Presidential Candidates

Ollie, your smarter than that. I aint anywhere near being liberal, but the Obama refusing the flag story was a purely political stab. Now, does he feel the same way about the USA as we do, I doubt it.

"This is just so irritating," Obama responded. "This was not the Pledge of Allegiance. This woman was singing the Star Spangled Banner. Now, I was taught by my grandfather that you put your hands over your heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. The Star Spangled Banner, you sing. So that's what I did."

campaign spokesperson who said, quote, "Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous."

McCain: I will say his original plan to legalize 12 million illegals hurt him, but he now supports a plan to not hand out amnesty, but secure the boarders. As far as foreign diplomacy goes, I doubt any country would want to bluff him. And, I still think he's the most honest, he doesn't necessarily support my views, but at least he doesn't soft answer everything.

Agree 100% on Hillary though.

The only people I see that could possibly fill those shoes are Thompson, Huckabee or Romney.

Thompson or Huckabee would be fine but I'd rather swim in nuclear waste than have Romney as my President!

Why? Can't handle a Mormon? He does have some good tax policies.

Thompson would be OK if we could just light a fire in him and get him excited to try and win.

At first Huck looked good to me, but Huck is no conservative to be wearing the R badge. Check out his tax policies.

McCain, no thanks. He is a demo with an R badge.

Hill and Obama, not even going there. Although I hope Obama gets the dem nod, as I think he will be easier to win due to certain situations.

But I refuse to sit this one out and not let my vote be counted. You can't whine if you don't vote.

Would Romney feel obliged to follow the dictates of the church's president, whom Mormons believe to be a divinely inspired prophet, like Harvard Business School dean Kim Clark's did with his recent decision to leave HBS for the presidency of Brigham Young University-Idaho. (In May, Clark, who is Mormon, received a call from his church's president asking him to leave Harvard and head for Idaho.)

The question is not, can I handle a Mormon. My concern would be, do I want a Mormon handling me.

Well,

No booze, weed, or pepsi, but you can have several wives!

:beer;:D:beer;

You guys are right, Mormons are whack.
But I believe him when he says the church would not influence decisions.
(that's unbiased, I'm pulling for Huckabee)

Umm im pretty sure weed is illegal no matter who is president. And if you want to talk about having more than 1 wife Romney has been married to the same woman for 25 yrs and Mcain is on his 2nd marriage and Guillani is on his 3rd so i guess that theory just went out the window. As far a Obama goes it makes me sick that he thinks that he doesnt have to salute the flag everytime, Thats just un american. I dont know how you guys were brought up but i was taught to salute the flag whenever it was flown and to respect it. That who I want running my country is a lying Muslium that wont even show respect to the flag. Why would he respect the Consitution?

Romney

So you guys have a problem with a man that has scruples, integrity and heaven forbid some one that is honest.
He has the business and political experience.
It sounds like you wouldn't want to have any of these qualities in the White House.
Oh lest we forget he saved the 2002 winter Olympics.

Good point. There was a huge pick up for my business shipping into Utah in the late 90's for that.

He's got the media blitz going on in Michigan right now. I have not seen any other candidate on T.V. besides him.

I just won't participate when I would simply have to choose the lesser of two evils.

Haven't voted in a while huh!!

Hill & Obama are both socialist psychos!

I haven't decided on the R side of things yet but I see another loss coming to the dems since they can't get it through their thick skulls that more and more liberal candidates aren't going to get them the presidency. One loses, lets find someone even more crazy to nominate!

Come on- you guys couldn't even find someone that could beat W. I could train a circus monkey that could've beat him.

It's just too bad that we can't find someone with some experience and INTEGRITY to run. but then again I wouldn't want to put my family and friends through all the crap that comes with running.

GWB has more intregrety that anyone in a long time. You can bet your last dollar that if he says it he believes it to be true with every cell in his body. His only shortcoming is he stammers when he speaks so those who dont want to listen anyway use that to call him stupid. Do you think Falkner is stpid? He can't wipe his own butt and only one person can figure out what he is saying yet he is called the greatest brain ever.

Is that what you call a guy that believes in the Mormon teaching of attaining the level of a god ourselves and ruling over our own world? :face-icon-small-sho

I agree I usally hate politics and this year is the worst.I probably won't vote at all. .

well, you just lost all my respect.
There is NEVER going to be a candidate that is perfect. THere will always be trade offs. If you ever find someone in politics that you agree with 100%, run, they are lying and you are believing them.

As for McCain, he's a joke. He says he got the message on Immigration and then turns around and helps gut the funding for most of the enforcement laws they passed and swore to enforce. Just look at the boarder fence.

He says he plans to secure the boarder "First". Then "revisit" a way to deal with the ones already here. He has NO intention of deporting anyone. He openly states he thinks there should be a "quest worker" program for the criminals already here. Oh, did he also forget to mention that the guest worker program has a built in amnest clause?
He also has stated he would like to do away with the boarders between Canada, the United States and Mexico.

"McCain!!! The man wants to ignore US law and reward 20 millions criminals. He feels if you ignore a law long enough you can just say it's all good and be done with it. Makes the crime rates go down."

What are you talking about?

His stand on illigal immigration.
He is trying to spin off his support of amnesty, oh wait, he calls it a guest worker program.

While I dont agree that illegals should be forgiven, we do infact need outside workers. Im all infavor a a "guest worker" program" of sorts with strict regulations and no way to twist it into a free ticket into the US. Who else is gonna cook your big mac or scrub your toilets much less pick your tomatos? The spoiled white kid with his Ipod, cell phone and Xbox? I think not. Too bad too, we used to teach out kids a work ethic, not any more. Lazy little $hits. Those 10% who are not, excepted.

I believe it would be political suicide for a senator from Arizona, to be against Mexicans. His opinion might be a little different as pres. He did flip flopped on the issue.

I liked his latest statement, which was to throw employers in jail, and fine the heck out of them. Puts a lot of burden on someone to tell an employer that the person they are interviewing is an American.

Personally, I believe that since 1/4 of the Mexican population has already moved here, why don't they just give us their freaking country. We could at least develop all the beach front property. As for Canada, I want them to still have a board with Quebec. The rest of the country is cool. :)

OK there, can't let that slide entirely.. Your end result is correct, but the events leading up to it are a little clouded, maybe by the bong smoke.

Yes, there was a vacancy at BYUI, Yes, they were looking to fill that vacancy, Yes, Clark ended up with the job, but if you are implying that he was told he would leave HBS and move to Idaho you clearly are on something other than the over-the-counter meds.

I'm sure he found it a great honor to be considered for the postion, and I'm also sure he was not the only one interviewed for the Job.

You think they should not pursue the highest qualified people to fill vacancies?

Ollie,
If you are going to quote me please use the whole thing . and what I meant was that the republicans have yet to produce a candidate that Is strong enough to earn my vote.maybe I could have been more clear about that . I would not say I agree with all of GWB's policies or ideas but he does and he stands behind them even under the pressure he been getting latley . I can repect that ist better than Mccains waffleing about everything.

sldgy,
As far as a mormon in the whitehouse please dont get me stated on that .The kids would be forced to pry in school if they had there way and give up 10% of there lunch money to boot.

Heaven forbid we teach our children to PRAY!!!

You know that the only people that pray are Mormans. So they will make it a law to join there church.
