Well after a year of trying to buy this quad as a project, guy/friend decided to sell it.
1991 Suzuki LT250r. I knew it needed some work. Paid a decent price for it being a blown up quad not knowing what all went wrong. But he needed money and i wanted a project.
Pretty Clean old race quad. Was a B class dominator back in the day.
New Tires, Sore Racing Ported Cylinder, Dyno Port Full exhaust, Keihn Taper Bored carb, Lightly Milled head, Works triple rate fronts- nothing fancy but better than stock. Way it was raced back in the Day. "I currenty race/ride a yamaha YFZ450 just wanted something differnt, as i do it for fun and dont get too worked up about it"
Got it home, found no compression which i knew, Lower Rod bearing, the cage broke sent pieces into the top end trashed the piston and chewed up the head pretty good. But saveable. Luckily ran into the guy who did the motor work years ago by chance, and said he still did some of it on the side, so he saved it.
But after about $450 in parts, hot rods crank-main bearing- gaskets-wieseco prolite 1mm over piston. tore it down split cases installed everything. Got it bolted in the other day, and fluids in it this morning and it started, so after a few warm up cycles, hopefully tomorrow i can throw the chain on and a few bolts and take it for a test ride...
Now just a lil money to get shocks rebuilt and should be good to go. And yes i do plan on hitting at least once race with it, just because guy i bought it from laughed and asked why, i have that 450 sitting there.. so gotta bring back some of the old school. His son currently races
