Pre-season tinkering

While waiting for it to snow, and for the 2012 snowchecked Pro to arrive we did a little cosmetic stuff and tinkering on the 11 pro....
- cut the windshield down lower from the top and sides matching the shape of the original ... 2-3 inches
- painted the vent screens
- HPS can
- Kill switch tether
- still waiting to to get the gauge lifter to install (from Mattt aka madsigntist in here) .

When cutting the windshiled do you just got off from the bottom then re drill the holes for the push pins?

No ... I masked it off and cut it down all the way around. It is shorter and narrower now. I never took the windshield off, just cut it with a dremel tool.

You cut the top? then how come the windshiled still has the finished edge on the top side?:face-icon-small-con

Most guys take the trim off and them glue it back on after it's been cut down. That's what I do on all of mine that I've cut down.

I took the rubber trim off using a blowdryer and an exacto knife, and then glued it back on with superglue gell after cutting it down.

You can also get small vacuum hose from napa or o'reilly's etc. and split it length wise a razor blade to make an opening to go over the edge of the wind shield. Glue it along the edge with super glue. Leave it long on both sides and trim it once the glue dries. It makes for a nice looking trim if yours doesn't come off in one piece.

I like the Red vents:becky: I just pulled mine off yesterday when I put my gauge lifter on ( Thanks Matt!!) I was going to paint mine red also, They look good on your sled!! Just wanted to know if you spray canned them or a powdercoat or how ya did it? And if the spray can will hold up? Thanks

Hey Icerider. I just painted my vents red. I'm still not happy with the color match. I have painted them 4 times with 4 different shades of red and I still don't have a good match. I don't know if it's the black underneath making the red look darker or what, but I'm tired of sanding these little buggers!

You can buy automotive door trim that is the exact same as sled windshield trim with the 3m tape built in. Check with your local Walmart.
