Powerclaw - Kudos to the the track that just keeps on digging!

I was climbing yesterday and at the steepest part of the hill there were a few logs that I had to jump and I lost a bit of my ground speed and momentum. In the past I would have had to turn out at this point but, this time I decided to just pin the throttle. I only had about a 2-3 mph ground speed but, I kept tractoring along up this steep mountain. I was shocked and amazed that the sled just kept going and going always finding traction from something. Eventually, I once again built up good ground speed and wheelied over the crest of the hill but, I just wanted to pass on kudos to the track that just wouldn't throw in the towel.

I saw the same thing last spring. Just when I thought it was over, the track would hook up and away I'd go. The guys that rode with me all have powerclaws now as well.

Move over Camo Extreme, I think there's a new king of tracks in town! :beer;

Powerclaw Track Works Great!

I agree with Frostbite! I put a Powerclaw on my 2008 M8 SnoPro 153. Wow what an improvement! The track is just plain awesome!:D

i just put my 162 Power Claw on my sled and I like it other than the fact that I lost 15 clips off the track with only 10 miles on it!

As far as traction while climbing goes, this Powerclaw track almost makes a 153" sled climb like a 162" and a 162" climb like a 174".

Of course, it doesn't make it float like a longer track but the traction is certainly improved a bunch.

I rode with a finger track for years and I swear I can feel those fingers grabbing whatever it can. That's one thing I noticed with a finger track, when climbing if you run over a log the finger track would use it for traction propelling you ahead. With a paddle track the track would slip as you went over the log but, it sure worked better in the powder. Now we have the best of both.

I wonder how the new harder Maverick is working out? It too is a hybrid combination of the two track styles but initially it was made way too soft.

Ya i had a similar thing happen to me today, except it wasnt a log i drove over, i simplyhad both feet slip off the running boards, again maybe 2 or 3 MPH ground speed and i was running up hill beside it and jumped back on and got right back into the climb. That track rips!

If you put PC on a sled with more than 200 hp be ready for a lot of spinning. I just went back to the Xtreme on my tm1000 couldnt find any dirt to get traction with the claw!!!!

One more thumbs up for the PC. Unlike most on this section, I put one on my Polaris 800. I ran the Camo last year and felt that I lost to much track speed. I've only been riding once this year so far, but I was very impressed with the way this track propels my sled. The light track and the power of headwork and twin pipes makes for a great combo

The braking is far better than the stock camo on the 07-08, you just have to know how to use it. I know that a 163 xp can't do what what my m1000 does. Proved it two weeks in a row. If you ride setup snow get a CE If you want a track for all conditions you can't beat the pc

love the claw in my area we get maybe a 1/4 of the season powder and the rest either spring type snow or wind blown hard pack the claw is the only track ive had that works well everywhere some say that it trenches in the powder but ive come to the realization that they have inproper rear skid setup ive been dialing mine in and it works in the powder cant get it to trench unless u stop on the hill and hold the throttle wide open until u trench lol

It's remarkable what happens when you swap the stock Maverick with a Powerclaw on a Yamaha Nytro too!

I put a 153" Nytro Mountain skid under a Mountain Max with a new Maverick for my son because the track and the skid were SO cheap. Very shortly the Maverick will go and the Powerclaw will go on and the amount of digging I do should diminish a lot.

I ported my powerclaw very conservatively (one hole per row behind the paddles) and so far it's holding up very well. However, I can't say I noticed any huge advantage by doing so.

I'd really like to put a Powerclat on my 900 RMK ... that'd be pretty cool :)

My dealer has been putting 08-09 AC skids under turbo nytros and apex's with the PC and everyone else on the same sleds is wondering why theres doesn't have the power to do what his does. He said the PC on the apex really gave it the jerk your arms off feeling. And It drops 22lbs off the yami's too.

I have a 06 M7 skid under my RX-1. That saved a ton of weight but, I still have a Camo Extreme under the sled because I think the rather heavy sled floats better with a 16" wide track.

Now if they made the Powerclaw in ........................

144 x 15 x 2.25
151 x 15 x 2.25
156 x 15 x 2.5 * I'd buy one of these for my M8
162 x 16 x 2.5 * I'd buy one of these for my 1 Ton
174 x 15 x 2.5
174 x 16 x 2.5

I really don't see why you would want the PC track in 2.5" lug height. You get better cleanout with the shorter lugs ....

I can't see where a 2.5" lug height on the PC would make any difference whatsoever, especially when you consider you would probably need to make it a stiffer durometer as well .... The stock PC is an 80 durometer, the HCR PC is 90 ...

I dunno, maybe a 90 durometer 2.5" track would be ok, but I think in this particular case I'll take more clearance between the front cooler and the tunnel and the track instead of a slightly deeper lug ....

I would love to be able to put a 150ish 16 wide 2.5 90 duro PC under my m1000.
I still think your 1 ton would benifit from a 162 15 wide PC, after seeing a 162x16 maverick compared to a 162x15 PC on turbo apex's. the PC just walks away.

I LOVE...my PowerClaw!!
Makes my lil' M7 keep up with the 'big' boys.
Helps me goat right up over the big stuff.....GOOOOOOOOOOAT!!!:D

Is there a difference between the 2009 track and the 2010 track, have been told some of the 2009 were fraying on the edges?

This is a joke. the amount of fraying is completely superficial. They rub the edges on the rivets in the tunnel and cause slight fraying. you can take a small propane torch and burn the fray off and not worry. Just dont let it keep burning, one guy left and it smoldered a junk of track out. If you look at a new PC there is a slight mold edge that rubs, I ground the rivets a tiny bit when it was new and never had the problem.
