Post Your Spring/Summer Builds.

Are we counting this as progress? If not I've accomplished nothing in two months.

Still need the second batch to start assembly.

Caleb/Andrew----last year, the Impulse guys down here had the sickest looking Nytro i have even seen....it looked like an Army Tank, Army Green and whatever other color...wished i would taken a pic cuz it was sick!!!....love how the Nytro stands so tall

I got the M8 tore down right now, looking to make things more funcational and ease of turbo maintenance is key this season...not sure what colors for the P coat yet

ICR, looks the same as it did a few weeks ago, lol.

Hatchers, i saw a few pics of that sled and it was SICK!

Im getting there

Caleb/Andrew,

I should have the M8 apart and ready for powdercoat in a few days...anything i should know before hand? Yes im cleaning all surface area very well, grinding sharp edges and whatnot....called VE to get the rear boondock tunnel half and they say its best to powdercoat hammer rivets that will be installed after the powder coat....i have to split the rear bumper to get a two tone look

also, does it matter if you powder coat a heat exchanger? cant imagine it would

regards,

hatchers..have them tape off the exchangers..the powdercoat will impede the cooling a little bit..might be enough to cause you problems....

Yeah, do NOT powder your coolers. It is quite a thick layer of material, also it will hold heat rather than dissipate it.

As for the hammer rivets, i would do it. Caleb and i just got done with my tunnel and the powdered rivets make such a big difference in a quality appearance. Put some pics up of that turd when your done with it. Oh and btw, my turbos faster than yours. LOL.

Tore into the New to me Nytro today. Prodjects for this year are Tunnel dump the exhaust, Clean up all the stuff off the tunnel, remove all the extra parts, steering post kit, and Float x's up front. Its no project like the other nytro's on here but it will get me by for the year. I'll post pics of the tunnel and exhaust when I get more done on it then just torn apart.

I would PC the rivets, IMO it looks a lot cleaner. When you go to hammer them just put some duct tape over the bit and it'll prevent damaging the rivet head. The powdercoater should be able to tape off the cooling fins if you want to get the cooler coated.

Caleb/Drew,

thanks for the advice...yes, painting a heat exchanger would be dumb

Q: it looks like the arms and rear skid arms got some over spray where a bushing or axle would be?...you plan to just file that material away

just got done cleaning the rear skid today, this has been the hardest part, nasty grease and bushing are a mofo to get out

Yeah, some area's arent too bad but others are a pain and the powder needs to be removed. Ive had a few bushing issues with my rear skid and overspray but thats just part of getting powdercoat, a small price to pay for a good lookin sled.

Really...huh. Must have to change the tape for every rivet? I assume this means getting the hammer centered over the rivet to start with...sometimes I don't, quite, on the hard to reach ones...

John

I did 30 of them last night and never changed the tape. Angled bits can help with the hard to reach ones.

loooks like you got a new track drew. its about time.

and what rear end is caleb running after her broke his last year ?
