Porting my track

Alright so Im thinking about porting my track. I got a 02 800 mountain cat 800 efi le wit a 144 on it. I would like to port my track, or what ever its called where u drill holes in the track.

What kind and what size of drill bit should I use?
Any thing else i should look out for?

thanks in advance

i used a 1 3/8 hole saw down the center 1 hole, but if i did it again i would go with 2 down the center. it works good with 1, but with 2 you will be lighter.

track porting

ya, i used a drill with the hole saw, it has a small pilot bit you can center on your mark. as far as using a 1" wood drill bit i cannot see how it can work. the hole saw almost burns its way through. i would try the wood bit on a mud flap and you will see how it works, i think it will not cut even and end up just pulling the drill through the rubber. the holes need to be cut so you do not make a spot to start to rip the track.:beer;

port track

i have ported 5 of these tracks with over a 1000 miles on one of them and i put 3 holes in the middle belt using a 1 3/8 inch hole saw works great

with three holes, did you still have room for two inside wheels to roll on the track? or did they roll over the out side holes? im thinking of going with a 2 wheel kit, that is why i did not go with three holes.
