I have pictures of me on a sled when I wan't even 1 year old yet. 1969 SnowJet. They say I started riding with my brother when I was 4 and I wouldn't get off until I was as cold and stiff as a popsicle! Not much has changed in 40+ years!

Started in 1971 on a 399 Olympic that was my parents. My dad bought 2 of these sleds that were demos for $750 for both. Rode those for about 4 years and then got out of sledding until 2 years ago. This will be my 3rd winter back and I can't wait for good snow. I am just sad I missed all of those years, man have things changed!!!!!

Started riding on my own in the back yard in 86,

Bought my first in 95
76 5500 Ski-Doo Blizzard
and then 96 Yami phazer
And then 86 Indy 400 mod with a 500 and a long track 133 1.5 woo hoo
and then some snow scoots and a raider
Then a 00 Ski-doo Summitt 151 700 With nos
05 Ski-Doo RT 1000 162 with NOS
06 Rev with nos
06 turbo Apex
09 1200 Skidoo Turbo XR four stroke
08 XP 880 bigbore with nos and now soon a turbo163
12 Ski-Doo freeride with nos 154

35 years for me, started on a 1974 Scorpian Stingerette. Would like to have known how many miles we put on that sled. I am sure it ran every winter from the start of the first snowflake to the last pile of snow found in the spring. Seems like we always had good snow those winters, of course 6" would have been good snow for that sled.

Both my parents raced USSA in late 60's to mid 70's here in MN and north IA. I have a few rides on both 71 294 TX Starfire and 73 295 TX Starfire. My first sled was a 76 250 TX Starfire. Wish I had just one of them. To many to list them all, all Polaris. Started riding out west in 95-96. current sled 2011 pro rmk. pushing 40 years riding ..... ouch... nothing that fresh pow doesn't cure

1970 was the beginning for myself, my dad had a Moto-Ski franchise in the midwest, had a blast riding that old orange 340 in the park across the street from our house. My dad purchased a 440 twin Moto-Ski factory oval racer named "The Bullet". That sucker would almost make your ears bleed when you fired it up without earplugs, that may have been the start of my hearing loss!!

I've been riding (driving) since 1971..

But there are a lot of young riders out there with less years and lot more time on the hill.

When you can ride 40+ days per year... you really step up your game.. some young guns are already better riders than I have been/will ever be.
Practice and time on the sled is what builds experience IMO.

My first sled... a 1970 Elan 250E

Got my first "snowmachine" when I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, Alaska in 1968. I was 35 years old at the time. Back then a "sled" was the thing you towed behind the snowmachine with the kids or camping gear on it. Moved to Montana in 1972 and since then I have ridden "snowmobiles" and now "sleds" (with motors). This year will be my 43rd year of riding and still love it. I seem to give out a lot sooner than I used to, cant figure that out. Ha.

Borrowed, begged and sneaked onto sleds starting at about 9 years old (1965)--skidoos, a few cats.
I was about twelve when we got our first family machine. Out through high school:
1967 Ski Doo Alpine -- the big one-- 299 cc
1966 Ski Doo Alpine - may have been a 199 cc (one wasn't enough)
1965 Olympic (my first) 250 cc By the time I was a senior in highschool, I could straddle the sled and damned near pick it up.
1969 SKi Whiz
1970 Scorpion Stinger 440
1973 Scorpion Stinger 340
Hiatus through college and grad school, then borrowed sleds
1980 Yamaha Enticer 340
1981 Yamaha Exciter
1984 Artic Cat El Tigre
1982 Yamaha Exciter-- back into owning my own
Bought the 1984 Cat
1984 ? Yamaha Ovation
1984 Yamaha Enticer II
1995 Artic Cat Powder Special
1999 Polaris RMK 700 -- 136
2003 Polaris RMK 800 --151 now for sale
2009 Dragon (what else needs said?)
2010 Skidoo Evererist 800 163 now for sale

And I missed a sled somewhere in the early 90's

Used to do it quite a bit as a kid, then the family ran outta money ... picked up the habit again in 2005, been at it ever since.

I've ridden sleds most of my pre-teen and adult years, but I'm going with 14 years cause 1998 was when I was diagnosed with an incurable passion for it and have been stuck on it since then.

While I was a kid we had a John Deere 440 and a couple of Scorpion Stingers and I borrowed a Whip once or twice. In 1997 I rode my brother's Arctic Cat Jaguar and was so hooked on sledding that I saved up and bought a brand new 1998 Ski Doo Summit 583. I quickly outgrew that motor and stepped up to a 1998 670. I then modified the Hell outta that sled. Put in a UB big bore kit, twing SLP pipes, Boss Seat, tunnel/rail extension to a whopping 144. Got a Diamond S hood for it and a bunch of lightweight parts. Think I got that sled a light as you possibly could. Rode that sled for years and then moved to a 2005 Summit REV 800, modified that and rode it for 4 years, then got a 2008 Summit REV-XP and ended up totaling it on a hidden boulder in 2' of fresh snow. That hurt. State Farm bought me a 2009 Summit XP and I still ride it.

Sleds that I have owned:
1998 Summit 583
1998 Summit 670
1999 Summit 600 (first year of the ZX chassis. It was the wifey's sled)
2002 Summit 700 (Wifey's sled and it still runs pretty darn good)
2005 Summit REV 800
2008 Summit XP 800 154
2009 Summit XP 800 154 with boost! The funnest sled I have ever ridden.

20 years and having a blast every year.
