Being spek'd as a libertarian Capitalist, it's fairly apparent where my leanings lie. I think trusting the folks in power to grant us our freedoms is a mistake.I think looking to the govt for oversight is a mistake personally. When was the last time we the people truly were able to hold our govt accountable for it's actions? I mean, I keep voting and yet we keep digging the hole deeper it seems.
The flip side obviously is allowing people freedom of choice and burdening them with the responsibility for those choices. I do get the side that doesn't trust the private sector, I really do but, I seriously doubt govt oversight is the answer. What has the govt ever done well?
I also feel that just reverting everything to a free market system sometimes creates some very greedy, unethical people. Capitalism unbridled by compassion is just as evil as socialism. But legislating compassion is something that just does not work.
