I have the chance to get a new takeoff series 8 at approx the same cost of a new aftermarket.

Sled is a 2019 850 155, currently run a X2.7.

Anyone have some miles on this track?

We do get some really deep
days each season, but often have more compacted snow. I imagine the series 8 will work better for us than the series 6 have. Also want the 3.5’’ pitch, and the weightdifference is huge too...

we know the x2.7 is a great track. time will tell on the new series 8.
i wanted to switch tracks this year and debated both of these, although 163 and 165.
i bit the bullet and went 165 series 8.

weight difference and lug spacing should clear snow better and allow more track speed ??‍♂️

Yeah, the X2.7 works really well!
But I have a bad habit of wanting to try the latest stuff?

Shedding that much weight comparet to the X must make a difference, also planning to gear down with proride gears or QD2.

Kind of worried the QD2 will be to low of gearing at seleven where we ride though..

I tried out the series 8 a few times now, and ride with 2 of them in the group. If buying a new sled, I would order it with the series 8 track. If upgrading and paying near full price, I would get the doo track. it works alot better then all poo tracks, camso 2.7 and powerclaw, camso x3, 3.2. I ride 0-4000' on the coast, wet heavy snow.

So you would get the Doo track before all those mentioned above?

I have looked at the new Challanger LX 3’’, was told it is supposed to be the same as the Doo track

I have had the a camso x3, 2.7, powerclaw, poo 2.6, 3, and rode the rest a bunch. The doo track kills these track by a long shot, in my snow conditions. The challenge xl looks very close to the doo track but I have no experience with it.

I don't think my Polaris would have enough power to turn one of those heavy Doo tracks!...lol.

Actually the Doo tracks seem like they are pretty good on the Doo's, so why not? The Series 8 track may need extrovert drivers to really make it shine as they run so, so tight to stop ratcheting.

The doo 165 x 16 x 3 = 49 lbs.
Poo 163 x 15 x 2.6 = 49.5 lbs. Its less weight and I can spin it in heavy wet snow no problem.
Sleds that would out climb me last year, I'm killing them this year.

You are right, skidoo sure dropped weight in the track dept since they went to 3.5" pitch

Good thing the series 8 165" is 5 lbs lighter than their series 6 155". That should be about 41 lbs.

I have a series 8 track on a pro rmk qd2 850 155. To my dismay i found one lug on the out side of the track that is split almost all the way up. I did not want to look any further than that. About 500 miles on track. Ride off road except for the trails and roads to get to the off road riding. Track seems to hook up well. my 2.6 with 4 seasons was showing wear but no tears like this. This tear has me wondering.

Ask any rental shop out west about the Series 8 tracks & you will find that they are easily damaged/not durable. Not to mention the constant stretching. Depending on your location/snow type the 2.6 is still the best.

I have fix a number of these tears on this track and others. Use this glue seems to hold. I have fixed tears on a power claw track and had new tears beside it and the glue held

I don’t know what you are riding over with these series 8. 800ish on mine and it looks like new as far as paddle wear goes. Sure it has stretched a little but all tracks will stretch when the spec is 1/2” tight. And I have gone through some pretty low snow conditions down low.

The tracks are great. The stock drivers are bad. Extroverts required.
