Polaris Response

Are we (anyone?) hearing any response from Poo on the ongoing quick drive and/or driveshaft issues? It appears the collar did indeed address the issue, but that's seems awefully temporary to me on $12k machine.

But how about the QD issues? Between broken belts, sheared belts, loose bolts, hot belts, loose QD towers, bad bearings, loose bolts, backing off bolts, etc - there sure seems to be a crap ton of issues and NO response from Poo. I was pretty impressed how they jumped right on the driveshaft issue and stood my ground against the Poo bashers, but i'm pretty upset NOTHING has been done or said in response to all these issues. I might chaulk them up to internet chatter, but i've seen a number of these go down in the backcountry, and had my own pulley bolt start backing off (thanks to Geo i found it in time).

My larger concern is Poo coming out with a fixed 2014 model and then leaving all of us 13 owners in the dust with ongoing issues.

My 13 has been trouble free so far (because of the info i've found on SW), and far and away the best sled i've ridden to date (design is awesome), but these ongoing issues friggen piss me off.

Poo, i hope you are reading these stuff because you should be stepping up to address the issues.

I am with you man. I don't like getting trapped in remote places and hate putting the burden on friends to tow my sled out so I spent $$$$$ on a steel drive shaft and QD belt to add to the $12k everyone else spent to try and fix Polaris's issues and avoid the headache of a failure.

I would at least hope the 13's owners get a update kit. Pretty crappy deal for the 13 owners thats for sure..

Im wondering if it is even possible to fix without major changes. They jumped on the driveshaft as there was an obvious, quick, inexpensive band-aid.
Im not sure anyone can point at a single (or even 2-3) specific causes for the other issues. Tough to fix something when you don't know why it fails.
No matter what anyone on here thinks the root cause is, and we all have our theories, proving it and finding a SURE cure is another story. Im going through a similar issue at my normal job right now. Sometimes there is no easy answer and engineering has to humble themselves and admit they just goofed up and start with a fresh piece of paper. JMO-

Don't get your hopes up for a fix. Polaris is a business, and they are in the business of making money. The cheapest solution for them is to ride out this season, and focus putting positive attention an their 2014 sleds

I am pretty disappointed in the direction Polaris has seem to been going in the last few years. The local dealer support here was the only reason for sticking with them. The 13 was a make or break year for me, I'm pretty disapointed to say the least. And after buying a new sled every year from Polaris, this will be my last year.

I am going to put a c3 drive with a steel shaft on, I don't have the trust in the stock setup for heavy spring snow. Pretty disgusted, I see a xm in my future.

I am hoping that they will come up with a solution for the 2014, and that it will be offered as a service update for the 2013s. You would think that they will want to stay with the belt drive system, but they HAVE to know that NO one will buy a 2014 if they don't come up with an "improved system". I would think that whatever they do will be based off the current layout and parts, and will fit a 2013. I had a 2009 XP Summit that would blow belts every 75 to 100 miles, and Ski Doos solution was to charge me $180 for an improved belt, which lasted 200 miles.......I had to spend $500 to have my secondary floated and braced.......I absolutely LOVE my Pro, and to me the chassis is worth some "issues" but I do always have the QD and driveshaft in the back of my head when we are far in the backcountry..........

you are right AK, they are business. BUT businesses have a duty to address safety concerns, and a broken QD belt issue causes a loss of brakes, which can be SERIOUSLY dangerous. This issue for them a calculated risk issue. IMO, they'd be foolish to not address the issue - but i guarentee their bean counters are crunching the numbers right now on how much a death or two would cost them vs. engineering a solution for 2013s. They are also taking into account how this will hurt their perception and its affect on 2014 sales. Luckily capitalism self polices in this way. If some outside force shoved repairs down their throats (a gov't for example), then we'd go buy XMs or a new YamahaCat because Poo would just get out of the business. Instead, they'll do the math and probably address the issue at most affective moment (to capture the most 2014 new sales and not smash their image too much on previous models). That being said, i think this Pro is a smash hit - but Poo motors have been suspect for years and the 900 and 755 IQs were disasters. I don't think anyone got a "sorry" letter from Poo back then, did they? :face-icon-small-sho

Maybe if we all start talking of a Class Action Lawsuit that would get Polaris's attention. Who knows
