POLARIS INDUSTRIES…PLEASE READ

I'd love to see pictures or at least have the owners of the sleds with broken drive shafts submit the built dates of their units.
Maybe a pattern will emerge

I'm sure they could chime in here, but it would be all in "Legalese" and complete runaround sentences promising satiscafaction while guarenteeing nothing.

"Ask me no questions, I shall tell you no lies."

The only way Polaris will fix all sleds is if they think all shafts will fail. That is why Arctic Cat did not recall the 12 ProClimb because most were fine. Some blew belts, most did not. I beleive Arctic Cat felt it was not worth absorbing the cost of warranting all sleds when it was only a handful that blew belts.

It will be interesting to see how Polaris handles the repairs. Its a shame that more consumers are getting screwed by the OEM sending units out the door that are subpar.

I can assure you that they have a few dudes in the warranty department at corporate headquarters who are charged with determining risk vs cost assessment. They have formulas that will indicate when they need to do a recall or service bulletin or just handle problems on a case by case basis. The decision makers will look at the risk/cost scenario with the shaft issue and also factor in possible impact on market share and then act, or not. It’s business, and if any of us were in charge of satisfying the board and the share holders we would look at it from all sides, like they have to. I’m not defending Polaris in any way, it’s just business.

Well back in the day, so my gramma tells me, keeping your paying customers happy was considered "just business":face-icon-small-hap

I think for the most part Polaris customers are happy or they would buy something else. In the end we vote for the company that is doing the best job with our wallets.

For Sale. 2013 Polaris Pro. Cheap. They break!!!! Must be so. The internet says so.

My, my, my. We need SNOW quick. :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-ton

For all you guys who are worried sick that your sled is going to break out in da mountains. Do you have a grassy area near you right now, like a ditch? Load your sled up, drop it off along side the road, drive it into the ditch, then beat the snot out of it. Don't let it over heat obviuosly, but, you will know real quick if your drive shaft is going to break or not. If it does, walk over to your truck, back the truck over to the sled, have your buddy help yu load it, take it to your dealer and have them fix it. There, now you don't have to worry about being out in the mountains when/if it breaks.

Yes, I am being a smart azz, but holy crap, guys on here getting ulcers because of what they are reading on the forums, with no miles on their sleds? If it happened to you, you have a right to be pissed, if it hasn't, QUIT FREAKING OUT ABOUT IT!!

I know first hand that Polaris does in fact watch these forums. Back in 04 when the 900 first came out and I was still working at the dealer, I recieved a phone call from our friends in the Polaris service department the following morning in regards to some things I posted on these forums the night before.:face-icon-small-sho

They are always watching:peep: believe you me.

I hope so because I will trade a 12 pro in for a new snow checked 14 and it will be either a pro or an XM. Notice I did not mention cat after the belt issues last year that is a chassis issue. A systematic problem that takes sleds off of the snow is a deal breaker for me. If this is a real problem I hope they take care of it in a manner that is better than the 08-09 dragon debacle!

I'm thinking we should start a poll on how much sleep people are losing over the great drive shaft debacle of 2013. This could lead to insomnia for America and even more job loss and greater debt. This could lead to Armageddon!!!!

Mr. Smarta$$, please explain to me how breaking 1 driveshaft and getting it warrantied with another POS driveshaft helps me not worry about my $12k sled while out in the backcountry(we don't ride ditches here son)???:yo:

I think everyone needs to take a moment and breath. Companies recall/warranty items every day due to various failures. I mean honestly, people were getting seriously injured in a certain manufacturers cars a few years back and people are still buying from them. I know for a fact Polaris is aware of and working on this issue and no, I am not affiliated with Polaris other than I snow checked a 13 Pro. I just have a very good dealer who let me in on his back and forth with Polaris to put me at ease so I could stop worrying about my sled exploding in the backcountry.
