POLARIS INDUSTRIES…PLEASE READ
This letter went to Polaris Industries this morning via certified mail…
Dear Polaris:
This letter is coming to you from a true snowmobile enthusiast. I commend your company on bringing us winter enthusiasts the lightest, most purpose built stock mountain snowmobile on the planet – THE 2013 Polaris Pro RMK 800! I also commend you for continually pushing the limits on ingenuity and advancement of the snowmobile industry.
I have owned about every single sled your company has ever produced…going back to when I started snowmobiling in the late 90’s. I continue to purchase your products to date and currently own a 2012 Pro RMK 800 and just took delivery of my 2013 Pro RMK 800.
I have recently heard of 12 unrelated instances of drive shaft failures in model year 2013 Pro RMK’s. I have been following this issue closely over the past several weeks as I too have a 2013 for this season. I was one of the owners who believed that Polaris would not release something that wasn’t a “proven” component and that these failures must have been caused by the operator doing something he/she shouldn’t have been doing. However, this weekend I was notified by a couple friends that I routinely ride with that they had another 2 2013 drive shafts break on them. These drive shafts broke doing nothing abnormal with the sled. These failures are absolutely unacceptable to me as a consumer of your product for the past 13 years.
I am writing this letter to you as a very concerned customer who owns a $12,000 snowmobile and is absolutely afraid to take it into the backcountry! I truly don’t believe my 2013 Pro RMK will be able to get me back to the parking lot at night…other than behind the rope of another sled.
ALL I AM ASKING IS THAT POLARIS ADDRESS THE ISSUE, DETERMINE THE CAUSE, AND INFORM THE CONSUMER OF WHAT YOUR COMPANY’S RESPONSE IS. I refuse to sit around and wait until my drive shaft fails me. If that means looking to another manufacturer of snowmobiles then so be it, but as a loyal consumer of your products for many years I expect to see a resolution to these drive shaft failures in a time sensitive manner.
Sincerely,
