polaris assault v. ski doo freeride

now i dont want a biased opinion even though i know this is a polaris thread.
which do u guys think is gonna be on top this year? 2013 polaris assault 144 800 or the 2013 ski doo freeride 137 800????
just deciding on which one i wanna get, my last sled was an 09 polaris iqr 600 so i dont have any riding experience on these 2 sleds

I do have a skidoo and a polaris but for this match up i think the polaris is better because it has a longer track it is more experienced and tested. The polaris is is lighter on a weight to hp ratio. You are better off to get the polaris the free ride is a very nice sled but you will be performing better and will like the easy light handling of the sled. I hope you pick the right one for you.

What exactly do you mean "on top". What kind of riding do you like to do? Are you buying on just because someone else said its the best.I would try to ride each before you took any advice from anyone else. Get the one that fits you best, one you can ride all day, and it doesnt ride you.

also i forgot to mention i live in minnesota and ride around here and in the UP so the track length doesnt matter too much to me. i love hitting jumps and carving and climbing through trees

Then I would definitely go with the Assault. I rode a freeride a few weeks ago, even in deep powder that thing was a beast. Hard to manuver and it did NOT want to keep a side hill. I jumped back on my pro, seemed like all I had to do was put a little pressure on my toe and the sled would lay over. The freeride is definitely not a tree riding sled. The Assault will destroy that sled carving/tree riding. Just my opinion. I'm not brand loyal, but I do spend a lot of time in the backcountry and see what a lot of sleds can do.
