Hey..

Random thoughts i had... about Polaris 600 or 660 kit or Both Turbo!!!

Has anyone done it??

Some ?'s i have.. did you or would you do the 660 kit then turbo?

or just Turbo a 600?

Or just go with a 660 kit?

Anyone have have vid or response to what kinda of power you would get out of them??

I am thinkin 180hp range would be nice!!

Any thoughts on this??? Would help thanks

I would opt for the 600 turbo. There are a few on here that had T600's. A guy by the username "Jim" had one for sale over the summer. You can get 180'ish hp out of them at elevation, maybe a little more with good gas.

Pistons and cylinders would be cheaper if you went with a stock setup vs a custom ported setup.

I had the Carls 660 in my '07 RMK and it was a nice running machine for a NA setup. You would be dropping a lot of coin if you went with the big bore setup and a turbo on top of that. Your best bang for the buck would be to buy a T600 already done.

Mine runs pretty darn good. I have not had ANY problems in three years on my t600. I have run 100% race gas in it and never looked back. If you run 10psi you will get 180 all day long at elevation. I probably lift the hood 2-4 times a ride. 4 only if I am wanting more out of her and want to lean it out. This year I am thinking I might go ahead and try the 660. I have talked with a guy that really knows his stuff and his opinion is to NOT go with the carls setup. Rather use the 600 I already have and have it bored to 660. I would use the same pistons carls uses. His logic on this is simple. Reggie has already been through the pains with the 600. He has worked out the port timing and bored the carbs the way the turbo likes it. So use his info and go bigger.
If you try and adapt a carls or whoevers 660 into a turbo you are going to be starting from scratch trying to figure what the motor/turbo like. the port timing may need major overhaul, the carbs may need worked on etc..

I keep telling myself I need to do this but then again a good running T600 will run with a T700 in 95% of the time. The T7 has its plusses over the 6 but they really are minimal and in the end a T7 running 10psi will not outclimb me running 14psi anyday. So really is it needed? No but I still think I might.

If I were going to do it over I would buy a good low miles carb 600 and send it to Reggie. Have him work his magic and build the sled. Then DO EXACTLY what he says in the tuneup and enjoy. IMHO this really is the closest you can get to a pull and go turbo. No if you choose to buy a used T6 that someone else put together I wish you luck. There has been some people that have had bad expierences with the T6 but I am here to tell you MOST of those with any problems did not have reggie build it and or didnt listen to what he said about setup. Spend the eztra dough and do it right.

If you can find a used T6 that reggie setup that may be a good way to go. I would just really want to be able to trust the seller that hes done everything right.

Well, I hope this helps. Again this is just my opinion and in no way reflects anyone elses machines or knowlege.

just go with the plain 600 much better for turbo applications. 180 all day! super fun and very reliable. we have done both the 600 and 660 but i dont see the since in the extra cost of the big bore. plus if something goes down for some reason you are stuck with out a running sled until the big bore manufacture get you parts. not the other way just find your closet dealer and buy some parts.

You won't be disappointed with a T600. When I first got mine, I thought my other buddies would just laugh cuz their T800 would be all over it. It was all I could afford to get since the D8 experiment. I even had a light weight hood to hide its true identity and avoid being the brunt of the jokes. Not the case...we compared pretty heavily and intensely at about 9500 ft on a 1000' pull. I was running 9 lbs and they were running 7lbs. The first 200 yds, that little 600 sure made the other T800 work to catch it, wicked fast...after that they caught up and slowly moved ahead most of the time...but sometimes they didn't. I also ran with a friend who has a Yamaha supercharged vector stage 1 or 2 kit...can't remember which ever has 240 hp... anyways the little 6 ran all day with it. In fact it made to the top of one of the chutes we were trying to get up before the Yamaha and T800 did. Plain and simple...T600 are respectable and will get the pucker factor quickly if your not paying attention where it is going. They are a cream puff to ride. I love it.

With the 600cc sleds, I see most people using the High Mark Recreation kits.

One advantage, I have not seen mention of staying with a 600T is you are still using stock cylinders. If something does go wrong it will be much quicker, easier, and cheaper to come up with the cylinders.

Im not sure the kind of rider you are but i was gonna do this same thing about 3 years ago. very glad i went with the 800. Jim on here built one a few years back.....PM him and ask him if he would do it again.....he wouldnt. I just dont get the appeal of a sled that you have to setup to run harder to get the same result that a larger engine will do with less boost. Cylinders are easier? hell if it goes down....send in the block and have it renicked. its gonna be down for a few weeks no matter what. Ive rode T600s and the only one that i was impressed with was running 18lbs and it blew a head gasket when i was riding it.

It will probably put the hurt on most non turbo sleds but if you think its gonna hang with most of the turbo's in the 7's and 8's well....good luck with that. a good setup 1000 probably has about the same at a 600 with 10lbs of boost i bet.

how big are ya? thats another thing.....im 260 without my gear on so it just doesnt make sense to me to turbo a smaller sled.

they just ment that it was better to stay with a 600 instead of the 660 because it would be easier to get stock bore replacement parts then 660 replacement parts.

I agree with you 100% on every thing you said doing the 800 over a 600. It does not make sence to turbo a 600 when a 800 is available. 600 will not have the bottom end power and will have to run alot more boost and better gas to keep up with a 800. 600 would have to run pretty high boost and alot of race gas to keep up with a pump gas 800.

Ok men. How are we going to justify a 600 now that there is a 10 yr old kid manhandling a 163 800? Can I get a pass for being in the grandpa's club ? I did tell you guys I had a bad knee right? I feel like I have to justify my incapacity now.
