PMS kit going to the dyno

KJ,

Added fuel in mid range (+1 to +4).
09 Dragon 800, Fix kit, 13.2-1 SLP head, SLP pipe/can, PC5, MTX 68 w/1gram in belly &Running 08 ECU map.

I have had it out a couple of times in this fresh deep powder and it rips. It pulls hard and runs clean with no bobble in mid range. I also pull about 8150 RPM on hill climbs.
This sled has never ran better!

Start at 4250 and ended at 8750.

Jeff, got yer email glad to here your sled is rippin like mine. when i had my sled on the dyno we tried to add fuel and it kept blubbering in the midrange and afr was out of wack. we also leaned out the top end as much as possible to get the power. sled rips from1500' to 10,000' got 200 miles on it in the horns and WOW never ran like that before. last year couldn't pull skis off climbing, this year no susp changes thing will stand right up. so happy. out ran 2009 skidoo 800r 163 and 2012 cat 800 153. had some good compatition.

Gerrman, just thinking out loud....I'm wondering if you might want to try (or if you already have, I'd be curious to know how it reacted) is to disconnect your PCV and see if the mid range gurgle goes away. It's almost sounding like that with the fix kit, these sleds might not need the massive fuel thrown at the mid range like we used to have to throw at them.

Are any of you guys running EGT's? I hope to have mine up and going this weekend.

no i'm not running egts got sled all setup for it then never put the probe in. guess i've just been watching the plugs and afr and it all looks great. from my understanding the 08 flash is a "dirtier" version. less subjuct to det and better fueling the way I understood it. Gerrman, maybe try plugging your exhaust soleniod see if that takes the grugle out. never hurts to try. can always undo it. i run mine plugged will never go back.

Pretty sure I’ve posted all the information before… I’ll see what I can find.

############## EDIT ###################

The 800 has 3 injector colors (dots located on body of each injector) - Blue, red, Yellow. All injectors should be of the same color.

The 04-15-10 flash number = Blue 4013135 , Red 4013134 , Yellow 4013136

The 01-11-10 flash number = Blue 4013066 , Red 4013065 , Yellow 4013067

Original 2010 (AUG/Sept of '09) update flash = Blue 4012959 , Red 4012958 , Yellow 4012960

You can have your dealer run a "Service Report" and it will list the "Software part #". That will tell you what you have loaded.

##### END #######

I'll add the orginal '08 and '09 numbers later.

I dont mean to steal this thread but I have called 4 dealers now and no one can tell me what flash is in my sled without hooking it up to the computer. The dealer i bought it from thinks it has the April flash in it but he is unsure. I thought i got a part number out of one of the dealers but its clearly not right... 0000511. Can someone help me out with this?

Thanks Dave...Going to try a few things this weekend...After adding more weight to the clutch for the last ride...WOW...slight gurgle in the mid though...will reinstall my PCV switch...run two PCV maps...keep SLP 70-216 and add Chad O's/DynoTech which is leaner in the Mid...ran this map all last year with perfect success...however I have not ran it since I added weight to my clutch...as you say, the leaner Map could be the ticket. The FIX/PA head seems to be the way go with these engines...Totally different machine.

KJ...if the above testing does not remove the slight gurgle...I will try plugging the exhaust soleniod...Can not remember how to do this however, can you refresh my memory, thanks...as well try the '08 flash c/w modified PCV map if the above does not work out...I am very close I think to having the slight gurgle eliminated...it does not interfere with the riding, maybe I am just being to picky..a couple of buddies rode it two weeks ago and they never even noticed it. Thanks for the suggestions and help guys. Will keep you posted.

The part number can only be found by using the Polaris Digitial Wrench Software. It isnt written anywhere else that I know of. Your dealer is correct. Take your sled to them and have them run the report..Takes 5 min.

Gerrman, many ways to go about plugging them but it boiles down to you need to plug the hose that comes off the soleniod and goes to the exhaust valves. i did mine by taking the hose off and pushing a ball (out of a bearing i had in my parts drawer) that fit nice and tight and put the hose back on the soleniod. dont know i did anything unless i tell you. hehe if your gonna just try it should be enough hose to pinch it in half and put a ziptie around it. just cut the ziptie and back to normal. also think a old round glass fuse would work too.

ps dont just unplug the wires to the soleniod really f's the computer up low performance.

Ok. The only problem with the 5 min job is it will take 2 weeks and 5 min cuz thats how long they are backed up at the dealer and they arent willing to just throw it on quick. Thanks tho.

Well, if you happen to be in the Snoqualmie / North Bend area of WA I'd be happy to runn one for ya.. :face-icon-small-win

My second motor(388 miles) went in my 09 D8 (PCV DTech map) everything else is stock, putting in The Fix and have a couple of questions. PCV or No PCV? PMS said no PCV and 08 flash. Plug or no plug power vavles? I just want a motor that won't crap out with only 400 miles on it.

i've got a PCV with the stoutner 157 map; all on top of 'the fix'. so far, 200-250 km's; all looks good under the hood. best part is it pulls like a raped ape.
i can't remember which flash it is, but i got the sled used at a dealer, and i requested that the updates were done..... that would have been in november 2009.

storm77- Thanks-I have the 2010 update mine orginal motor blew 12-29-10 and they got it back to about the middle of January so I think I have the latest update.

My guess is if your sled is all stock put the fix in, definitely go with 08 flash, and shouldn't need a pc5. and yes the fix is very reliable and the sled will run like never before :jaw:

The engine locked up on a flat section around 7500 rpms. I'm wondering if I need to have the crank checked and lowerend cleaned out. It locked up then a few minutes later my buddy pulled the rope and it turned over, so I rode it in. I hope I didn't damage the crank!:face-icon-small-con

i would for sure check out your crank mine did the same thing, the mag side was bad and lock up, but both sides showed excessive heat coloring I ended up replacing the crank. I also replaced the cylinders, both skirts were cracked. I would also strongly suggest running a pcv. I put 300 miles in the snowies over new years with the fix kit ( it is good insurance) I found that even with dynotech's 157 map i was still lean in the mid range. not real bad but a little leaner than i would like.

That's intersting, my sled while still hot in the mid (EGT's) with that map, would gargle ever so slightly with that map. Are you running EGT's? What Polaris Base map are you running in the ECM? What elevation?

unfortunately I do not have egt's . I pulled plugs every day and checked piston wash. I am running the original 08 head and map. and was running 8 to 11,000 ft , sled is stock except can and carls clutch kit. I added the recommended oil at break in. and then added 2 % to the 157 map on my pcv in the mid range the next day the plugs and piston wash looked a lot better. the following day it warmed up into the upper 30s the plugs looked a little rich that day, but after all of the money I have into this thing I would rather run a little rich than to chance it.

If I play with it at home 0 to 3,000 ft. I have added 15% to the mid range to get rid of the bog.

My next trip I will be running auto tune I will post some #s when I get back.

What did you do on the topend. I have same map and thinking about zeroing out the top to be safe. I thought this map was designed around the 2010 re-flash and I was a little afraid to run it with the 08 flash.
Also what about you power valves are they blocked off?

I have power valves blocked off. I feel this helped me with some of the mid range bog especially at home 0 to 3000 ft.

on the top end I was afraid of running too lean as well so I added 3 or 4 % just to be safe from the 157 dynotech map. This is the best my sled has ran since the first year I had it

I just got the lcd for the auto tune and was able to watch af. I have an 09 with fix ,08 flash, slp exhaust and head. Running the stoutner 157. I trimmed all the super rich # in mid range by one third and added 2% on top. when I istalled this map I forgot to add a af table so I couldnt use the autotune. I was able to moniter af. I was about 14.3 at the bottom to 13.5 on top. ran well but I am lean for what the slp pipe likes. I am guessing 0's or -1 max at 8250 with 08 flash
