Play in driven clutch

My Team driven clutch has some play in it. I can slide it in and out on the shaft about a 1/16". Is this normal? It's held on with a bolt that has 5 or 6 washers on it which is what's giving it the free play.

I ask because I'm getting some clunking when I get on and off the throttle as the clutch shifts up and down.

Yes. That is correct and normal. That is what is often refered to as "float". About 1/16-1/8" is normal float. As for the clunk, have you ridden any other sleds with a team clutch with electronic reverse? They all make a pretty loud clunk when getting on and off the throttle. Takes a while to get used to the noise and consider it normal!

YUP. My '03 and '05 800 RMK's did the same thing. Just ride and enjoy the scenery.

Ya that is for self-aligning of the belt... And yes the clunk is due to the helix

If you feather the gas for half a second, you can avoid the clunk. Sometimes it's just fun to floor it though.
