Ok there is some discussion on here already but I would like some more input.

I am planning on driving up from Colorado with my sleds at the end of December. I dont have a clue where to go or where to stay. I am planning on a week stay in Canada. Should I stay in one spot or try and ride different areas. Say Fernie area then Kootena, then Revy or what do you think? Should I get a tour guide or try and find some locals? I just dont want to get stuck riding trails and not be able to see anything.

Also do I bring Race Fuel up from the states or would it be better to buy a barrel of Race fuel in Canada. I am paying like 275 a barrel in the States.

Thanks for all the help guys. Oh yea the wife is going so I cant drag her into any hell holes. She is a good rider and can usually go everywhere we do just doesnt climb everything that we try to climb and if it gets real technical sidehills then she struggles but other than that she does great.

One other thing what is the elevation? will I have to set the sleds up differently. I usually ride anywhere from 8 to 12000 feet.

Thanks in advance

anywhere around revy, sicamous out to whistler BC is pretty good! for 1 week, i would pick a spot and ride the snot outta it! revy has many different riding areas with different levels of difficulty. that would be my choice

get a local or guide for sure the first day! get them to take you out as far as possible ,then next day go there and work your way back lots of spots then to hit!

Yup, no doubt for just a week trip definately hit up Revelstoke, Sicamous area.
I dont live close to there (Edmonton, Ab) or even ride there and im recommending it as i know its the 'Meca' of sledding and you will be impressed. Just want you to know my recommendation is unbiased.

Hey Poop

You mentioned Fernie. We usually ride the Fernie/Crowsnest Pass area since it is only a 2 hour drive for us. There are many different ridding/staging areas (8 I think) along a 40 mile stretch of road. If you are thinking of getting a guide for a day, I would recommend checking out www.mountainmemories.net I think they are very nice people. Heck if we are going out I would be more than happy to have you come along, I never know when I may be in your area. This area is about 3,000' to 7,000'.

I have been to the Revy area as well and it is just awesome (I would say slightly better, but that is because i don't get to go there as often). Also if you are looking for the monster hill climbs, this would be your best bet. I am less familiar with this area, but I think Sicamous is about 45 miles west of Revelstoke, and Golden is about 90 miles East. IMO Revy has a lot more sled traffic as well.

I think you would be able to go to either place and spend 7 days ridding and not go to the same place twice.

You may want to have a few options open and go were the snow is when you come up here.

your bringin your wife so groomed trails and warm up shelters are preferred. Also you dont want to get lost cuz u will be in unfamiliar area.I would recommend stopping in golden and ride quartz creek day 1,then off to revy and ride boulder mt and frisby ridge on day 2 and 3.Then go to sicamous and ride blue lake and owlshead on day 4 and 5.The staging areas for all of these areas are right off the transcanada hwy and easy to find. The riding areas in all of these places are easy to get to the alpine with no major climbs at all to get to the goods.Plus u will see how the terrain changes and the differences in the snow as u go further west. They are all groomed alot and all have nice cabins with wood stoves.

come on down

sicamouse and revy ! poop u can come to this area for a week and never ride the same mountian twice all with in an hour of each other bluelake, owls head, eagles pass, queest, crowfoot, and thats not including revy riding areas.this is where ilive :o:beer;:beer;:D:sun:

If you go to Sicamous, look up Sun Dog Bed and Breakfast. Great place, and perfect set up for sledders. Has a wide variety of riding so both you and your wife should have lots to choose from. Sicamous is fairly close to Revelstoke as well.

You have to experience a broad perspective of B.C.

Definitely check out Golden, the sledding is a great kept secret.

OOPS!! I mean.... Move on to Revelstoke... Don't stop!

wow havent checked this site in a while great info guys. I am not sure when we are coming now. I called glacier house and booked the room. Then they emailed me and said since it was during the holiday season I had to pay in full and if I canceled ater 90 days that they keep 100%. That is to much money and to long of a drive to just have 90 days to decide if I am going to make it. I am worried that if a storm hits and I cant make it due to road closures then I am screwed or if I break down or something then I lose 2 grand. So may try and shoot for March. Sucks because December is the only time I have off from work. Thanks for the info guys maybe we will see you in March.
