Place to take my 4 year old with no fish cops?

Hi Guys,
I bought my kid a 120, and we're going to go use it for our very first time this Saturday. I'm looking to see if any of you have any recommendations for areas that have some nice open flat terrain, but also don't have rangers to give the kid a ticket for not being 8 yet. Thanks in advance.

You know anyone with private property?
That is my suggestion.

Yeah, you'll have to find some private property at a high enough altitude that there is still snow. The fish cops are laying in wait for snowmobilers to make one tiny mistake at every trail head. I've been checked a lot this year. You may try the Fairview Skyline, Logan Sinks, or Daniels Summit and if you get caught just pay the ticket and chalk it up to the cost of letting him ride under age. Or buy him an iPad mini and download a snowmobile app. :face-icon-small-ton

What a bunch of crap!! If a child is with an adult there should be no age limit!! That just pizzes me off.

Fairview

There is some good places up on skyline that don't get hit by the fish cops too much. Don't go on a Friday because that is when they take the groomer up there and groom and they will check ya in the parking lot while they unload the groomer. That's the only time I have been checked up there, on a Friday.

Other than that I would say someone with some private property. I know there is a large cabin community above scofield reservoir that is all private property. Something like that might be your best bet.

I know a guy that accidentally put in the wrong year when he did his kids OHV card and got his 6 year old the card. It sucked he had to remind his kid his age before they went riding but the rangers didn't seem to notice the 3 year age difference. This same guy also forgot it one day and got a ticket at little Monte. The ranger told him it was a fix it ticket and just needed to go show the card to the court. When I showed up to to take care of it they told me it wasn't a fix it ticket but a straight $100 fine. I scheduled the court date to have DB ranger come to court but got it handled through an attorney friend prior to court date.

But when my kids were little I simply towed the 120 out of the Monte parking lot straight across ant flat road and over that hill there like your heading towards powder mountain. Just on the other side of that little hill there is a huge play area that is actually posted private property with a sign that can be seen when the snow is low. I would sit there all day and watch them burn those 120's and never once saw a ranger. We even did camp fires a couple times. There are a couple little ditches they need to be aware of but plenty of open ground and they can even climb the hill if they get a good run. That area is less than 5 minutes from the parking lot and those little 120's tow great with that snow bungy tow straps that hook to the skis. You can even hook a snow sled behind the 120 to tow your lawn chairs out:)

Good luck it's totally worth it!!!

And btw before you say the rule isn't needed try to remember that not all parents have a lick of common sense! Without that law the fish cops could not do anything when some dumbarss dad puts his 6 year old on a turbo sled cuz he thinks his kid is tough enough! And think how bad it would suck when that 6 year on the mod sled runs your 4 year old over on a 120!! It's not always just your kid you need to worry about.

My son started racing snow cross on his 120 when he was 4. Four years of racing and now I'd bet he can out ride at least 1/2 the fish cops.

Thanks, great day

On your recommendation we tried out the Fairview Skyline area and got lucky with a ticket free day:face-icon-small-hap. My Dad trained me out on Ant Flats at Monte, so I like the towing 5 minutes idea as well, I'll try that sometime too. We had an awesome day, he had tons of fun and made so much progress I can't believe it. I was even able to get a touch of video. Thanks again guys.
