Piece of mind

Yes, if you run any type of extrovert driver the rails need to be cut.

Sorry to ask more questions, but how much of the rail do ya have to cut?
Will I need to run an anti stab kit?
What bolt did you use for the QD pulley?
Any other mods beside using the '13 clutch side bearing?
Thanks in advance!!

Oh Ya Polaris said the checks in the mail!

You cut them about 1/2" in front of the shaft that goes across for limiter shaft. This shaft is replaced with anti stab kit. You are highly advised to use one with cut rails if you value your teeth. Bolt for pulley is 3/8" fine thread Gr8 on my particular shaft. No other mods for shaft to work.

The 2013 shaft has a special coating on the splines of QD pulley side that keeps the pulley from seizing on the shaft. Polaris claims that if you use a shaft other than a 2013 you need to put antie seize paste on the spline, if you run it with out the paste they claim you will not get that QD pulley off.

Good to know! Did they tell you anything else?

I have a question dealing with shaft/drivers. On our 2009 RMK's we had terrible ice build up on the drive shaft in deep snow conditions. This would cause the track to ratchet. Our 2011's don't have this problem. ??????

I had a 2005 900 Fusion. I am glad to hear something was good on that sled!:face-icon-small-dis

d8grandpa,

Where did you read/hear that that is what Polaris Industries said?

My dealer was talking to an engineer at polaris, about the whole issue. He has some 2010-2012 pro and rush shafts coming for replacements. They gave him that info about doing the replacement. Polaris is working on a fix but not sure yet what it will be, they don't know the extent of the problem because the shaft production was out sourced and they don't have quality controller reports on them. My dealer had shafts on order before this all started that's why he can get them before the current back order date was set. So he is going to use them for his customer sleds for now when they fail. Polaris is fully aware of the problem they are just not sure yet what the solution will be because they don't know the extent of it. Certainly not what we wanted on our new sleds, but be patient winter has just stared and hopefully they get permanent quick fix.
