Pictures of vent options for the Pro

No, I didn't do any front vents. With the rear being vented incoming air should flow over the engine & clutches better now that it has a place to escape.

The tether is plug n' play kit from Poo that I took off my IQ. Key still works.

Where did you plug yours in at? Back of the key fob?? If so what do you do when you remove the hood? Maybe I'm not seeing this right??

Here's what I have pics of from Fire N Ice

Mountainhorse,
How much is that full kit from Fire n Ice? including the headlight?

Don't you think thats over kill on that many?

These Vents are lookin like they are going to make a great snow grader's !!

I am not ventin mine.. On the deep days.. even just Once.. when your belt goes from dry to wet once.. Is enough for me not to vent!

Just my thoughts...

OO when my side panels break.. or are being defected out.. no ?'s well have to be answered!

did u vent.. it will not be covered!

It does seem a little funny to vent their investment. If something fails because of lack of venting that's their warranty problem, not ours. I do think it may prevent excessive wear on belts, but other than that, what's the point? I have the Holz sitting in my garage, but haven't put them on yet. I didn't really think about it this way until they arrived. If the sled is stock what's the point?

Crf118..

yea.. kinda what i am thinkin.. i am keepin mine stock.. for a while.. aleast this year and maybe next..

It's just more weight to the light sled!

All in ALL Pretty sure it is Just a COOL Factor!!

ooo i lose!

oo well i will get warrenty when i need it!

^^ Simple engine & clutch performance considerations. Clean cool air flow = good. Hot air stagnation = bad.

Even Polaris offers side vents in their catalog so they see merit in letting the hot air escape. I think if it wasn't for EPA Db rating issues they're would be more venting from the OEM.

Agreed.

Gee, and think for the last 20 years I should not have wasted my time and money trying to vent my sleds. :face-icon-small-dis Who knew it was only for the looks and not to help reduce underhood temps and save me countless belts and increase clutch and engine performance:face-icon-small-sho

Do you guys think the holz rear console vents are adequate enough to expell heat build up under the hood/clutches without the side panel vents? I don't really want to butcher up my wrap with a big a$$ vent in the middle of it? Thanks

Let's do this: Have a non-vented guy and a vented guy keep track of belt miles and do a real world test on belt wear due to lack of venting. I bet we would all be surprised at the results. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just making the point that Polaris is looking for a reason to void warranties, and why do it if that's a possibility on a stock sled? I don't think you can really avoid it after adding a pipe and can, but at that point you're voided anyways. BTW, I haven't been in it long enough to know that venting was available back when sleds had Flinstone boulders instead of tracks :jaw::peep:

I used just them ^ to improve air flow and keep a stock look. Cold air that flows into the stock vents on the hood should now push hot air out the back better with these vents. They don't mess with graphics and never clog with or let snow in.

That's good logic. I think I'm gonna try that first before I start cuttin up my side panels. Good Thinkin.

Thanks for the pics. Keep them coming.

For the stir up/knee console area I was thinking about just making a template and router some slots like the IQR. What do you guys think?

What about the RM Lightning vents? Their vents seemed to help with airflow under the hood on the dragon.

i look at venting as a investment in the longevtivity of my sled, not to worried about whats gonna happen when its under warranty, more worried about whats gonna happen to it after the warranty. not gonna abuse my sled just because its under warranty. i'd rather take care of it its entire life. if you have a good dealer venting will not be a problem, mine advised it...

not venting and saying your not gonna worry about it makes no sense to me. if a problem does occur and they cover it your gonna loose riding time and be inconvienenced, i'd rather be riding than trying to get my sled fixed!!! the tighter they make these engine compartments the more critical venting becomes. if you ride your sled hard in the deep your gonna want the venting, or wish you did;)

Back to the "why doesn't Polaris add vents" subject. Why don't they vent the crap out of the IQR? I had one with a pipe and can and lots of heat tape and the damn thing wanted to melt the side panel to dripping every time I rode it hard. Seems like they could do whatever they wanted to the racer??
