PIAA lights

I am considering installing PIAA lights on my RX-1. I am a little concerned about the how well they perform – I am not concerned about durability. I need good lights due to a lot of night riding. If they don’t have same or better lights/brightness than the OEM lights – installing PIAA lights is out the question.

How are the PIAA lights vs. OEM light pod? Give me your honest opinion.:light:

Thanks! Just what I wanted to hear:D What PIAA lights are you guys using. There is alot of different ones out there.

Some have a broad spectrum of light but it doesnt shine out very far and some have a focused spotlight or tight beam that shines out far but hard to see around the sled.

I have two of the foglight style piaa's in my hood/belly pan and a tight spotlight beam on my handle bars on my 1200, its like riding in daylight!!

not sure exactly what ones im running but there the extreme white ones with really white light . i find the whiter light makes it alot easyer to ride out with darker goggles on . the only time i really use mine though are on really great days early on in the year and you ride till dark then have to ride the trail out at night . look at the lead dog helmet lights as well they work awsome and dont go up and down with youre sled or get coverd in pow , they just shine where ever youre helmets pointing

I have ordered a set of PIAA lights for my old TRX-1. I am in the process of installing apex plastic on my TRX-1

Have you guys used the OEM relay on the sled or used the on that comes with these lamp kits?

I was hoping to used the stock relay - so I could use the high and low beam switch on the sled without too much re-wiring.

Any input appreciated - thanks in advance:)

I got my lamp kit today - so I will bump this to the top

Are you guys just using the PIAA lights hooked up to OEM headlight wires - or are you using the hole setup with with relay and switch that comes with the PIAA kits?

Hooked right into the factory harness. How did you get the apex plastic to work.I have thought about doing the same thing

Thanks - this was the answer I was hoping to get;) I was afraid that the stock light cuircut and realy wasn't "big" engough for the PIAA lights.

Installing Apex plastic is bolt on -just a few modification to footwell brackets and change of D-frame/steering post and fuel tank (might be optional with a front mount turbo) ;)

Here is a link on TY to my sled and parts you will need to do it:
