Has anyone tried one of those aftermarket computer chips for a 4 stroke Phazer? Seems to be a bunch of them on Ebay making claims of horsepower gains. Anybody tried one? Problems? Did it work? Seems to good to be true.

Nail on the head, to good to be true. I wouldn't risk a three thousand dollar motor on one of those chips. My .02
That's what I was thinking. Would be interesting to hear from someone who tried one though.
the little ones that are advertised on ebay most of the time are just potentiometers that wire inline with the intake temp sensor, so you can trick the motor into running leaner and more on edge. not all are, but some of the ones I have seen do that.
they arent anything more then a $1 part from radioshack with a nice housing.
