PC5 Looks like I need one, but some questions?

maps

has anyone compared the slp map with one that they made with the autotune at 7000' and up. I would like to know how close they are to each other.

i have a pcv with slp single pipe i ride 9000 feet and up usually and i am pulling 8250 for rpms i dont know what my clutch weights are tricity set it up for my pipe and elevation

Here is a question about really needing a PCV or not? As I have mentioned in a few posts recently my '09 D8 163 runs extremely well. It has a SLP single and I sled between 3000-5000'. Does the saying "if it is not broke don't fix it" apply here? What is to be gained or lost with a PCV? I am sure there are others in a similar situation. What are the opinions out there?

I was a bit hesitant about trying the PCV as my sled has always ran great...had 2500 miles on it at the begining of this season...had the update done in October and have about 300 miles on it. It still seemed to run good. I decided to try the PCV anyway just to see. I do run the SLP single. I have not noticed much yet in power difference as I have been trying several different things with my secondary clutch (as in TEAM Tied) but I did notice how much smother the motor did run. My riding buddies even told me they thought it sounded better and I never told them I even did anything. Looking at the program I can sure see the changes.

The DynoTechResearch map that Jim sent out with the PCV. I think it is the one that is down loadable from his site now.

Make sure you look at the map that is preinstalled in it. Mine ended up having an older map in it. You can tell by looking at the map and seeing where the changes are. Mine only had changes in the 100% column. There should be changes all over the map. Jim emailed me the newer map right away and I installed it. Was easy to do and quick.:beer;:D

Correction on info

the controller slp sells is dynotechs

That is wrong the controller SLP and Dynotech sells is made by DYNOJET. Dynotech does not make fuel controllers. SLP makes a map for the 800 with there pipe from dyno -testing and before finalizing the map it is thoroughly field tested before being released to the consumer. There is and endless amount of maps available as you can create or modify an exsisting map in a minute, which is what makes the pc3 or pc5 so versatile and easy to use.

Autotune

I would imagine SLP uses the autotune to develop maps as they have the correct air-fuel ratio numbers to enter into the pc5,that they would get from there dyno runs unlike the average consumer who has no access to the correct air-fuel ratios needed at different RPMS and throttle positions that you can only obtain from a dyno. The map you have from SLP, I would trust because if I made a map from my autotune and loaded AIR- FUEL ratios into the pc5 and they were to lean the autotune would trim fuel because its only source of data is what air-fuel ratios I gave it. The autotune does'nt know if you give it bad info. Hope this makes sense . Example if I enter a 11-1 air-fuel ratio the autotune would correct to that number which is totally wrong and the sled would run like crap.

New Maps

I orderd a PCV from SLP but I also want to check out some maps from Dynotech, is there anywhere I can get them for free or am i stuck buying them from someone. I wish there was a site out there with the maps so we can all work together to get this fuel map thing right.

I'll share my map with you if you share yours. You will have to connect your laptop to your sled and upload the map. Then you can email it to me and we can compare. Sound good?

Also, if you have two maps on the PCV you can switch between the two if you install a 2 pole switch! Isn't this so much fun?

I also would be very interested in having your SLP map. I can send you the map I have if you like but I think it is the same as BugIto's.

just got it installed.

I just got it installed, I need to put the map on my laptop then i can share, they trimmed fuel at the top, im going to use that map, but just enter 0's in the place where they trimmed fuel. as long as i dont take fuel away my dealer will honor my warranty so im sticking with that till i hear better, so ill have 2 maps 4 sure, what elev are your maps for and what style 800, im running a RMK 155

The map on the Dynotech site is for the PC111. To get the PCV map you need to call Dynotech and request it..

I have a P/C 5 with autotune for sale. New/never used. $500 plus $25 for shipping.
I will post it in the swapmeet section.
