Paying to retrieve 2 sleds from Taft, MT area

So I do not think that this is fraud you guys! I went and searched for his sled for three weekends and found nothing! we had our first big snow fall the day before I could get up there so the sleds could have ben buried but his GPS should of put me on top of them no matter what. That's when I started to think it was a hoax...... But he had stayed in contact with me the whole time and even gave me gas money for my efforts! I do not think someone would fork out cash to someone for their efforts if this was fake. Some times GPS isn't completely accurate and sometimes people actually get stuck in crappy situations like this. IF it is a fake, its the best damn trick I ever fell for because I got $$$$ ! :face-icon-small-ton

hmmm...and who was left at home "alone" while you were paid twenty dollars gas money and gone all day...??

GONE.....

Sorry it's taken so long to let everyone know. We have been dealing with insurance and had to report them as gone. We went up to the spot, the GPS was 100% accurate that Andrew was given so we believe they were gone between the time they were left and the time Andrew went up. This was NOT a hoax of any sort. Both sleds have been reported. If you see them, please notify this thread and the local police. The good news is that the forum community has been great with wanting to help (minus the guys calling bulls#it) and we got insurance money to help recoup some of the costs.

Since they are "gone" where exactly were they?

Can you post EXACT details of the sleds?

How 'bout the dates so people could search by google earth and maybe some local cameras to see if there are pics .

Here in California there are cameras in the forest the public can access with archived pics for years.

Even a town intersction might have an archived camera.

Sorry for the loss and hope the insurance treated you fairly.

What's the Police report case file #? You know, in case I see the sleds, then I can report the case file # to the police for quick recovery.
What detachment?

If the sleds were near Taft MT then I-90 GOING IN TO Idaho HAS A state checkpoint.

Find out if you can view the cameras at the checkpoint for the dates hey were stolen.

The only issue is if they were taken in an enclosed trailer.

I'm a skeptic on the whole story.

If someone would have come across the sleds before they got buried by multiple snows, wouldn't they have called search and rescue fearing a few lost souls on the mtn?

Sounds like to even get to the sleds a person would have had to be a very good rider, esp riding 2-up so the 2nd person could then ride it out, one at a time. Wouldn't there have been quite a few tracks/path going in and out from all this traffic and wouldn't the handful of riders who had the gps coordinates have seen such tracks?

I'm not aware of a gps that is 100% accurate, esp in tree cover.

And what seems fishy is if it is that hard to get to and to ride out of, how can the injured fellow walk out of it in deep snow.

M8braaap went looking and has not been heard from since............
It's a trap! How many others must we lose? One is a Ski Doo for chrissake!!

BRP you went back up there recently and they were not there??? There is no possible way they were stolen before I went up there to look. I came in from several different angles and no tracks in or out. Not many riders in this area would be able to ride those things up and out anyways even if they did find them before or after the snow melt. This is all IF the GPS is 100% accurate to where I looked 3 times. I dunno man, such a crazy event of things to happen. I wish you the best of luck with the insurance and hopefully you guys will be back on the snow next year........ just try and stay on the trail a little more :face-icon-small-win
