Patriotism, Pride, and throwing your trash out the window...

I've been in the AF for almost 10 years, and unfortunately we just have some complete douche bags that come through. I'd kill to see one of my troops pull something like that, its been awhile since I've got to lay down a good *** chewing!

I do however leave the occasional beer can or bottle in the woods so a kid can find it in 50 years and think it is pretty neat.

Most who served in the military (especially the older one's) are humble about their service and only expect to receive the quality heath care they worked for by serving their country which they truly deserve. However some of the younger military personnel believe they should be treated different than everyone else because they are serving their country. I am responsible for Law Enforcement at a State Recreation Area and reservior which is located an hour from an Airforce Base. I welcome those military personnel to come to the lake to have fun and relax as long as they abide by the rules and their fun does not ruin the visit of others using the park. Once some leave the base it is like they left everything they learned about disipline and respect behind. When I confront them with their illegal or objectionable actions They expect me to look the other way because they are serving their country. Some examples include: illegal off road atv riding which included a trip across the Park Supervisor's back yard, Riding a dirt bike at 4am in the campground dodging between tents, driving drunk and rolling their vehicle in the park, standing in front of a family and taking a piss in broad daylight, giving me false names, partying late into the night causing several families to get refunds and leave the park, shoving a girlfriend out of a moving vehicle onto the parking lot, and conducting late night rifle hunts within a public campgroud to shoot critters to cook on the fire. They expect I and park users to tolerate a standard of conduct lower than everyone else's because they are serving their country. I personally would expect a higher standard of conduct because they are serving our country. I totally respect and appreciate what they do to keep our country and our freedoms safe but I wish some would act as repectful of others on their off time as they do while serving our country.

There's a saying, "You can't fix stupid"! The services try their best, but some people are just to ignorant to be cured, kinda like the person that made the ignorant comment about "no one protects this country".

I did it for 20 years in the Air Force working on the ICBM's at Grand Forks AFB, ND and then in the R&D of the Ground-based Interceptor program at Vandenberg AFB, CA, that is now operational at Ft. Greeley, AK.

Charlie, i live next to one of those guys too. Fantastic neighbor and a great guy.

Turns out he was on Heartbreak Ridge in Korea.

sdsnocop Most who served in the military (especially the older one's) are humble about their service

m8magicandmystery well many true serviceman are generally the invisible man back in our society..just happy for the quiteness they are back able to live...no stickers..no special plates..humble..thats what makes them special...

The above statements say alot about them and their peers.
My best friends dad is the same way. Lost half of his knee in Vietnam but very seldom will he talk about any of it.
He's an awesome guy that would help anyone at the drop of a hat.
Those are the guys that deserve that respect and admiration.
Like Snocop said you/I expect (at least we should) a higher level of self discipline and actions from members of the military because of that respect.
I tell all of my new soldiers that they are now a representative of all members of the military. Your actions reflect on me and every other member of the military. If you look and act good, I look good. Don't make me look like a $h!tbag because you are acting like one.

Unfortunately like it was said above "You can't fix stupid" and that guy was proof of it.:nono:

or cut his foot on the broken glass and die in agony from infection miles away from help...lmao...just kidding...yep i know what ya mean...it often becomes a little treasure..

i think the no liberals in AK should put this argument to rest...or what about the vast wilderness and wildlife...countless miles of land...being about to do what ever you want...need i say more?

nope..you need not say more....just THINK MORE...all that wilderness and wildlife could have been factories and just sushi..and YOU may not have had any choice in what you would do..

im pretty sure if the russians couldnt handle the interior natives and the coastal inuits the brits would have been even worst...the russians barley got control of the aleuts...you know nothing...if the russians could handle it im pretty sure no one else could either...need i say more?

Russians and Brits got nothing to do with it...you better do a little research on who;s country's yours fought in ww2..

Thank you!!! He didn't have a clue about what he was talking about. It's about time he got banned, just like most of the other forums he frequented. I still have to hear his ignorance on our Alaska outdoor forum, which he will be banned from eventually.

And he was only back for 2 days (from a 30 day break). I see it didn't take him very long to get more infractions.

I used to collect beer cans as a kid. I was excited to find those old conetop cans left in the woods by some slob 40 years ago.
