Patriotism, Pride, and throwing your trash out the window...

Driving home yesterday and i'm following a gentleman driving a Jeep Liberty that has Washington plates that are personalized Air Force plates with an American Flag in the back ground. There were also a couple of ribbons on the back for POW/MIA and USAF...very cool, I support our armed forces.

Continue driving and the guy throws a bag of McDonalds garbage out the window...huh?!!! Flash my lights as this guy could care less about littering. Drive about another 5 miles and the guy throws out a cigarette box and some plastic wrapping. WTF? Seriously dude?

End up pulling up next to him at a stop sign and signal him to roll down his windshid, tell him...."Next time throw your sh*% in the garbage can instead of throwing it out the window". Guy looses his sh*$ and says "I fu*#ing protected this country for 4 years and i'll do whatever the f*#k I want".

Looked at him, shook my head and went about my drive home...

Thoughts from any active/retired people from the service?.....

I don't meet your requirements, but that guy is a douche canoe and a half.

I hate when people use their "service" as an excuse to be a dick or act entitled. Most don't, but enough do to make it hard to respect someone just for serving.

Agreed!!!

SO MANY PEOLPLE use some excuse as a crutch.

HUGE example in this valley where I live......people defend themselves by claiming "I am Christian...."
Yeah, so you should know better. Therefore since you're still dick inspite of your elite religious status, that makes it even WORSE, right?

Pontificaters are usually the ones who don't look in the mirror enough.

he served so he could turn it into a garbage dump? Idiot

littering is one of my biggest peaves If fawking hate it. If I saw someone go to that extent I would lose it without the comments he made. I get pissed when dirty smokers toss thier butts out the window. WTF is wrong with people

Littering pisses me off to no end. I would have chewed this guys *** just the same. I don't give two chits if someone has served or not, there is no excuse for that behavior.

Couldn't agree more with you. I seriously couldn't believe that he played that card....embarrassing.

On a side note, I was in court for a "recreational driving ticket" (e.g. doing my best to "clean out the exhaust in my car" at well over 120mph) and the guy in front of me was trying to talk his way out of a $1,000 littering ticket for throwing his cigarette butt out the window. Needless to say, the judge raked him over the coals in front of everyone in the court room and defiantly made an example of him. Didnt reduce the infraction...good!

No one really "protects" the US because I highly doubt little countries like Serbia Libya Afghanistan and Iraq are going to attack...

I might throw an apple core out the window

food for the critters, plus degradable, but not a mcdonalds bag, problem is
U CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!!

I love it when I am riding my motorcycle in traffic. And a A-hole in front tosses there burning cig out the window and I ride through the sparks, or the few times it has actually landed in my lap. I really want to hold on to it and throw it back in the car.

In BC if you toss a butt and start a fire...you are up chits creek without a paddle....It is a pet peave and ther is no excuse...what an a$$hole !!! Maybe he got shot in the head and doesnt know any better...lol

I hate people who think that they served in the military because they are so "patriotic" and stuff yet are complete jerk offs. I once straight up told one "you didn't serve because you wanted to protect your country you did it because your not smart enough to go to college and not resourceful enough to find a dam job" haha you shouldda seen the look on his face.

well many true serviceman are generally the invisible man back in our society..just happy for the quiteness they are back able to live...no stickers..no special plates..humble..thats what makes them special...

a fool uttereth his heart....a wise man speaketh much later..

i am sure that the true majority of those who serve remain humble...yep of course some rotten apples..

Total DoucheBag for using his service as an excuse.
Just because your contract is up doesn't mean ALL of your responsibility to "Your Country" is over.
I lived across the street from a guy that his whole extent of his bragging was a comment that he had served in the Army in Europe for awhile. Couldn't get anything else out of him.
Several years later he came over to show me the letter and Medal France had sent him.
His service had included being an underwater demolitions expert on Normandy Beach on DDay. Clearing obstacles for landing craft to make it to the beach before and during the invasion assault.

Sherman never bragged about it or used it as an excuse. He simply went back to being a good productive citizen in society.
That is a real Hero and the guy didn't even want to take credit for it.

I recently attended a funeral for the father in law of a guy from work. He and his wife had known that the guy had served in the military "for a short time" but he never really said more than that. After he died they were going through his closet and found his military box containing 2 purple hearts, and several other medals from WWII. They had no knowledge of any of his awards.
