Paddles Curving the Wrong Way

So I just "upgraded" to a 162" Camoplast Mountain Track that I bought used, from the stock 159" Challenger. Purchased new avid drivers, new offset axle, 9 inch wheels, anti-stab kit. Took it out for a couple rides and it seems to do worse then the stock track that was missing paddles. The track I bought looked like it was in good condition, no missing paddles, 1 paddle that had a slight slice in it. But now when it is on the sled and it is sitting on the trailer/snow it looks like the paddles are curved backwards. When I hit deep snow at the top of a climb instead of digging in it just wants to spin. Sled seems like it has plenty of power but isn't putting it to the ground. I believe the track I purchased could have been on a supercharged Nytro. Could that power cause the paddles to be curved back when sitting with pressure on them? Track was ported when I purchased it. Do I have any recourse with the seller? Paid $300.00 for the track.

is it a power claw track? I hear great things about those in deep powder/moutain's also if you are constantly in deep snow, I wouldn't think they would bend enough to be noticeable unless you hit hard packed snow or ground underneath. This may be a dumb question but assuming when you installed the track you put the arrow on the track aiming forward?

the 162 camo tracks of the M sleds definately bend over a LOT.. they may slip a little, but in the deep stuff they definately keep you on top of the snow instead of trying to go through it.. its a trade off.. good pow vs good in hardpack. also, leaving the sled sitting parked on the lugs they can get way badly bent over..

Seriously???

You bought it used. Put it on backwards for this spring and then flip it back for next year.

Yup Seriously!!!, I mean exactly what I wrote. I'll make sure I spell it out a little more clearly for you next time.

If the seller knew that because of the power they were putting down the paddles were super flimsy and causing the track to have terrible deep snow and hard park performance, then they should probably state that in the sale. Maybe I'm just too honest, but I wouldn't sell a track that obviously doesn't work well in either hard/soft snow conditions for more then $150.00 and state that in the sale.

Maverick?

Is it a Maverick? If so, the lugs bend. Period. I think the 162 is supposed to be a little better than my 153, but it certainly is no camo extreme with straight paddles...

1. turn the track around. Expect the lugs to bend the other direction over time.

2. I have read about some desperate maverick owners putting screws into the finger shaped portions of the lugs to keep them straight.

Good luck.

Nope, it's not a Maverick from what I can tell. It's this http://www.catdeals.com/product/1602-996a

I appreciate the feedback, I'll turn it around and run it the opposite way for a bit.

Not sure what the problem is, the Camo Challenger track is a great track!!

If you road this past weekend, the conditions were definitely weird and I am sure there were a lot of people not happy with their tracks. I for one was not one of them. :face-icon-small-win

Not sure what the deal is, I rode a couple deep days a couple weeks back between AF and Guardsmans and the sled just doesn't want to go up anything once I hit deep snow.

Also rode this past weekend, but rode my roommates Nytro with a 162" Powerclaw, all I can say is wind sucks. :face-icon-small-fro

Powderclaw yesterday had some issues, but my Polaris 2.4" series IV kicked butt!!

You will not find a track that does everything good, so pick your poison (powder or hardpack). Although I will stand behind the 2.4" series IV (2.52" pitch) as being the best all around.

got a m7 with 162 challenger 2.25 and the paddles are bent over real bad. spins and slides all over the place on hardpack and trail. not to noticable in powder tho. softer rubber than the new camoplast challengers. got one on 900 and doesnt bend at all sitting on trailer.

Maybe it's the fact that my roommate just got a 2010 M8, but not so sure. Definitely my first year riding, but I think I catch on pretty quick. What are others experiences riding with others on a 2010 M8. My sled should be putting out around 195hp with the current setup, but I can't come close to touching the highmarks of the 2010 M8, XP or 2009 Dragon 800 I ride with.

I could understand if I was having trouble keeping up with them in the trees, but it's mostly just climbing the same hills they are climbing that is giving me an issue. Thoughts?

it's your first year riding and you're riding a 195 hp sled????

my guess is your clutching is off, what sled?

It's not the track, I have that track on my m1000 and it rips!.
I would say its clutching or something else.
What is your track speed.

My sled is an '03 900 with SLP single and V-Force reeds. Ride with a couple '10 M8's, one 153" and one 162". I run a 159" Series IV Polaris track and neither sled can touch me. If the season wasn't about over, I would say lets go ride. I will say this, if you are running twins, get rid of them and run an SLP single or even stock single. Good luck!!

And if you want, have a Attack 20 sitting in my garage you can have for $150. Straighten the paddles (can show you how) and it is a great track!!

just curious why go with the single i have twin slp pipes and can but have been thinking about going stock with a can

All depends on where you ride. I have never had good luck nor seen too many Cats run good at 10,000' in Utah running twins.

On the Cat 900, the SLP single has worked very well for me. In a drag race, you will not see much if any gain, but on a hill in powder, it is a lot better. Just my $.02
