P90X (anybody tried this yet)

Started it 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm in high school and do it with 2 other buddies in the gym at school every morning at 6. I play ALOT of sports and have lifted quite a bit in the past but after shoulder surgery (torn labrum and rotator cuff due to baseball) i was getting pretty lasy. after all my healing was up i decided I needed to get back into shape for sleddin and spring baseball, and to just feel better about myself. I wasn't sure how good the program would be (I'm always hesitant for as seen on tv stuff) but after these 2 weeks I am VERY confinced this is the best work out I've ever done. Use to have a trainor at the local gym but will never go back there!
I'm loaded with energy, waking up ready to go not ready to sleep in longer.
Football jocks laughed as they saw us staring at a tv sweating our butts off, we told em to shut up and give it a try................they don't laugh anymore! HA
This is a tough program, dont think for a second its an easy hour a day. But do it and you will not regret it..just stick to it!

p.s. for all those already doing it--we can't stop laughing at some of the people that are in the shot with Tony. "Pam The Blamm" haha, we joke about it all the time. Funny though, it just gives us another reason to look forward to working out. Sweating AND laughing, great combo!

never done it or seen the workouts, but I hear it's killer. I think the creator just took some good workouts and diet and is making a killing now.

Looking forward to how everyone does on it....might have to give it a try on of these times.

Good to see people are giving it a go.....

I just happened to order it tonight.... Ya I'm Drunk.... Ya I've been lazy.... Ya I'm bored with traditional workouts.... Ya I lost 30 pounds a couple years ago and have gained 15 back.....

BUT

I only ordred the basic program and got the one month of fat burning supps for 5 bucks...

Figure... Screw the support group... I was hoping some people on snowest were doing it and we could use each other as a support group....

My P 90X will be here in 3 weeks or so and I'm looking for some people to compare results with.....

I'll just get a chin up bar at Cambodia Tire..... Some Hydroxycut if necessary for a fraction of the cost in the last two months.....

But with a good diet and the cheap one month suppyly of fat burning supp's..... and if a guy sticks to the rigorus workout.... I'm sure good results will be achieved!!!!

I lost alot of wait with Metabolic Confustion by changing up my diet last time so the body didn't get used to what I was eating.... And it worked great.....

Soooo I'm all about Muscle Confusion to Bust Plateaus........

Come March when it counts I want to be a Lean Sledding Machine!!!!

Looking to loose 20 pounds which is equal to $2000 inot my sled in Mods..... And Whoop Some Butt on the Hill!!!!

Cheers

You will also need the rapid change weights or power chords. They recommend the bowflex ones, but at the price not worth it. I got the cheap 25 lb set at Target for 40 bucks. Look around the forum I posted earlier, can get some good information regarding what you will need, and has some good links to some excel files for tracking progress.
Good luck as I start on Monday, I figure by the end on the first 30 days, will be in much better shape for prime riding season. They are also pretty good on getting you your order, much faster than the 3 weeks they say.

tried the yoga today. Im sure its good to do but its not for me. Im gonna replace it with an hour run on the treadmill

Start the program again on monday, started once with past housing situation was not working. Chubby mine if PM you on some help, through it.?

Shoot me a pm!

I do the same thing, as I'm wanting to run some 5k's, and maybe some 10k's next spring. I just can't get into the Yoga.

Just finished my 2nd week, and I'm still a little sore, but it's getting better than the 1st week. I'm trying to get on the treadmill on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for at least 3 miles at a time. Those are kind of the easy days on this workout for me. I'll do that in the morning, and then the P90X workout at night.

I've lost 1 belt loop so far in 2 weeks. That ab ripper X is a killer if you do all 330 motions. I think I'm getting about 280-300 of them, and you definantly feel it when your done.

i did Kempo for the first time this morning, Damm im uncordinated punching and kicking all over the place. Did get my heart rate up to around 130 through most of it. Was'nt satisfied so did 20 miunte run on treadmill afterwards. I think its gonna take me a while to get every move in ab ripper x. i might get through half of them now.

Lost 21 pounds so far, only three off them with this program. Was running and lifting hard before you guys turned me onto this program.

thanks

on a different note, did we ever figure out who the girl was in Chubbydog's avatar? :D

My 2 cents for those of you that are running on the treadmill this winter. To start with if you can do it great, many people quickly get bored with the treadmill. I find my ipod and constantly changing speeds helps. If you get bored on the treadmill, running outside in the winter is great. 30 degrees F and sun and you can comfortably run in shorts and a couple of layers for your upper body(gloves and hat also). Most people can run comfortably down to about 0 degrees F. I use the same shoes winter and summer. Running in the dark is also cool, feels like you are floating. 5k's and 10k's are great training goals. I sign up for the Big Horn Mountain Trail run in January and that $50+ dollar entry keeps me training. For those of you who like the mountians try trail running or snow shoes if the snow is to deep.

Check out bighorntrailrun.com the 30k is doable with a good base of 3-5 mile training runs.

Keep after it, pounds off the body are better then pounds off of the sled, lets you ride harder and longer also.

Totally agree on the treadmill being boring. But....you got to doo it !
discipline !! I doo a couple of diff hill programs . I ran flat for years till I started training for the toughest half marathon in the NW.

HUGE I mean HUGE differance ! Get a I pod and a ton of new music.
Get a heart rate monitor and stay in your zone !
A lot of people think their working harder than they really are.
Raced bikes and skied/boarded all weekend. I feel S T R O N G.

I do all my running at night.. I actually prefer it. I am up to 2.8 miles in under 30 minutes.. non stop with a 100 yd sprint up a hill at the end...

Might push it to 4 miles soon... Not to bad for only been running for the last 3 weeks.

I'm glad you said that! I started it last week, and after the 1st 3 days, I couldn't even hardly walk. Every part of my body hurt. On day4, I got kind of bored with the Yoga, so I just went and jumped on the treadmill for 30 minutes, and did the ab ripperX again.

Starting week 2 today, hope it gets easier for me! The diet isn't too bad after you do it for a few days. It's that eating 5 or 6 times a day instead of once that's hard getting used to. The Abs workout is only 16 minutes, and you do it every other day along with another workout. The rest of dvd's are close to an hour. I think the Yoga is about an hour and a half.

Also giving up the beer for a while is a killer.

On a positive note, I did loose 4.5lbs this week.

If you spent more time on an MX track instead of a Golf corse you might not be so out of shape:D

Work into it slowly, unless you are 18 then nothing matters. If you want to do 4 miles make that your long run for the week. Soon it will be your normal distance. Injuries are common when starting(shin splints, knees ,backs, etc.) By giving your body a chance to adapt you will be less likely to hurt yourself. It is recommended to increase your distance by no more then 10% per week(read it somewhere so it must be true). I have a hard time sticking to that, especially when I feel good. When you start getting new pains consider new shoes, this usually makes the pains go away. I also find it helps to have to pair of shoes, different brands, and alternate days in them. Beats on the body in different ways. Also, expect 3-6 months out of running shoes before they become lawn mowing shoes.

Just another 2 cents......

Great advise. Dont burn yourself out with soreness or pain.
Get good shoes often.
If we dont REALLY feel like working out one day we dont, and feel good about it. You will be more motivated the next day.

haha.... lawn mowing shoes....any body need some ?

So where's everyone at with their programs? Just wondering some long term results of those that were on it...

I have been going to the gym whenever I get a chance to if i dont work to late but its not really doing ****. I need to find a good way to loose weight big time, I got a hawaii trip in january and dont wanna look the way I did last time. I got the hydroxycuts but they arnt helpin, I gave up beer for a while (a week so far) so would this plan be the thing to do. I see on the web page it says 3 payments of like 40 bucks or somthing. what all does that include what do I need to buy, theres not much room in my apartment for work out equipment. Do all I need is a door wedge chin up bar and set up dum bells?
