Outboard clutch support?

Umm you know that's for a rzr 800 side by side (atv) right? They don't have much horse power at all and the engines don't try and twist like a big power 2 stoke sled motor

Yup it came right off an aftermarket rzr site. I completely understand that my axys 800 moves around in there quite a bit. Every time I change motor mounts I see the evidence. A lot of that movement is caused by the pull betweeen the clutches. Can anyone say for sure that this is a bad idea for these 800 sleds?

Has seen this on drag race sleds a long time ago. If someone uses them still I don't know.

I know that I have seen them for sale also, just don't remember where.

The site shows one for the 900.
And talks about turbos.

Pretty sure i have recently (last 5yrs) seen something similar for snowmobiles.

It would probably help keep the belt aligned, but would probably also shake the hell out of your sled. Kinda defeats the purpose of motor mounts, doesn't it?

Also would have to make the body work fatter to fit it in the side panel which we all know we don't want that!

Seems awesome, but won't work for any Axys chassis sleds. The engine is designed to torque into correct alignment.

Snip from the SM.

So you tighten the adjustment bolts on the link when its in alignment and the motor mounts are compressed.

Not a game over scenario.

why would you need that unless you have clutch problems?

And if you do, you have a problem elsewhere locking the clutches together is merely a band aid

I see these on sleds all the time.

Just cut a hole in side panel so it hangs out. That's were you also adjust your engagement.

A 170 horse sled does not need this though . The ones I see have 650+ horsepower

At 150 MPH it takes a little more than a chassis to hold things "Apart"

This is the next big thing in Hyper Outlaw sleds . 200 cubic inch Top Nitro Harley powered IQR .. I want one as soon as the first makes a pass with control I'm confident in ! His is around 1500 horse.

Thanks matt159 for posting that link. Very informative! It states on their site that they are able to wear out their belts and not blow them up. I’d love to wear out a belt without blowing it! They also show a heat shield behind the clutches, might be worth thinking about . . . . .

Its interesting but with proper adjusted clutches and such we have run a "real world" 200 hp with ZERO issues from the belts on quite a few sleds, both turbo and N/A,
why change anything unless you are going over that power level?

Interesting u say zero issues.
What if u were able to get 2-3 times as much mileage from a belt on the same 200hp sled? Wouldn't u then say that only getting 1/2-1/3 the mileage is an issue?

Not saying that is the case but only doing one thing forever doesn't provide proper evidence of issue or non issue.
