out with two pros yesterday, how they compare to the etec

up at corbin last two days with a few pros, m800, and older doo

snow was not the best, but over all good times, we swaped more then a few times and got to hear what they thought of the doo

first coment out was that the doo pulled harder, they said it sounded louder because of the can, but was a noticable gain, next was that the doo sterring felt almost easy to steer compared to theirs, polaris stering is almost stiff,
they found etec front end to be very narrow and said it was between the dragon and pro, handle bars of etec are easyier to turn with, the rest felt the same as theirs

now what i instanly felt was the lack of throttle response, and stiffer stering, but did like how the machine handled to my narrower ski stance on the etec, i also found a noticalbe difference on push from the track, but the pro felt light and i give it a big thumbs up from the previous dragons, lastly i also found the bars to some what lock my wrist up on turning, felt weird over etec

we never were able to do any climbing, to see how they compare their

the etec had 60 miles on it and the pro were broke in they said, etec had a can and ypipe mod done

i have the comments on helmet cam, but the file is bigger, than what they allow, i will try in find a way to play it

Wow..... A brand loyal Ski-Doo guys opinion of the Pro.

Why are Skidoo guys spending so much time in the Polaris section of SW?

I read the POLARIS Pro Ride section because I own one and want to hear from other guys that own one. If you have an Etech and like it, great, good for you. I think it is a great machine. It's obvious by all your comments that you think the Skidoo is the greatest machine ever. Fine. That's your opinion and I can respect that. But why stir the pot in the POLARIS Pro Ride section? Why not post your opinions in the Skidoo section where you can get mindless brand cheering, or in the mountain -- not brand specific-- section of SW?

Most of us come to the POLARIS section of SW looking for info on our sleds. I personally don't come to the POLARIS section looking for a fight from pot stirrers.

I have a Pro Ride 155. So does the GF. We both love them. Are they the best machine for 2010? Do we really care? They are the best machine for us and our type of riding. Can you climb higher on your Skidoo? Maybe, maybe not. Does it really matter to me? Not in the least.

Pot stirring and brand bashing doesn't really belong in the brand specific sections of SW. It's a useless exercise.

"lastly i also found the bars to some what lock my wrist up on turning..."

not wanting to feed thread....but your comment "lastly i also found the bars to some what lock my wrist up on turning, felt weird over etec" could be esily alleviated by adjusting the bars further forward........

other than that, and given that these are MOUNTAIN SLEDS we are discussing, I would - as I am sure the majority of others - appreciate your post more had it been after some form ofr climbing..... I find mine steers heavy in the garage...is that cause for concern?

Wow..... A brand loyal Ski-Doo guys opinion of the Pro.

Yeah, same guy on multiple 4M threads including Polaris and General sections. I know my sled does just fine. Maybe if we all just tell him his eTec was worth the extra $1400 he paid for it over the Pro he will be happy.

I agree!! If you are brand loyal brag in your brand section. I am hardcore Arctic Cat fan. The Pro Ride is bar none the sled to try and keep up with for this year. I am clapping my hands for Polaris and tip my hat. I have two friends who bought Pro's and I can't wait for the first trip. The pro is going to take snowmobiling to another level an I thank Polaris. If you have guys like Burant riding your machines they will take them to the next level and demand the company to be on the cutting edge.

Look at Polaris's riding team and what they are putting into the company. I personally can't wait to ride the sled, help my buddies dail them in so they run the best they can.

Just got to ride a buds pro 163 today up tog. Very impressed with the chassie, powerband and pretty much everything else. Ive ridden alot of the newer sleds they are all good but, light in the trees, deep pow carves, and just for having fun, dont think you can go wrong with a new pro. I just bought a 700 turbo draggon with all the goodies and love the sled but really enjoyed the pro. Amazingly fun for a stock sled. I have some GoPro HD footage i will try and post alittle later

there all gonna be fun. everyone is entitled to there opinion of the sleds. i spend as much time on the xp/rev section as i do in the pro section and i own a pro. lots of my friends i ride with have revs xp and knowing something that can help them if they have issues or not can be a deal breaker if we ride all day or have to head to the truck early. Read what u can about them all specially if you ride with the other brands other wise you are helpless and your day can be ruined as fast as some one else on a different sled.

OK, I have been sitting here for 10 minutes deciding if I should speak up or not. I can't help but remark, Dude, could ya just try a little harder at simple grammer and spelling. I know sledders have been tagged with a few stereotypes, but tops it off. C'mon man!

He's an example of 95% doo riders..hate it they think their the chit. I love my m8 love cats but man I want a pro. I plan on getting one next year since I didn't get one this year. Those sleds are so light and nimble. That sled rips. For my type of tight tree boondocking on hills that sled works awesome. I dont know now people ride those xps talk bout way to forward but they can ride it. The pro is the perfect balance. Great sled. I think he's just mad that the pro is the best chassis best sled for 2010-2011! I want one!

Its hard to take you guys seriously with all the early season trash talk you threw out so now no one wants hear your opinion.

Come next year, I'm sure that Cat will have something to give Polaris a run for their money. We'll see. I'd love to see you switch to the PRO, but you might still be on a Cat next year. HA HA

I put 81 miles on a pro the other day. I Think it is an awesome sled. Whether it is better than my cat, I don't know. I know it has a better suspension and steers easier than a stock cat. I put an ez ryde on so that is mute. As far as power I don't know. First ride of the year. My buddy, who has one, said that the power is the only thing I would be dissappointed with. Power can be remedied with a turbo. I will have to ride a cat and the pro back to back to decide which I like better. I do know that it tips up harder to the right than the left. I seen a guy who had his ski stance centered on the left and narrow on the right and wondered why. Now I know.
As far as what the doo guy said, who cares. He obviously rides doo and like them better but it is always interesting to hear what someone thinks. Usually you don't automatically like another brand when you are going form such a drastic change such as the xp to a pro. That is the problem with this forum. Everyone is pissed if you don't ride what they ride. In my experience, the guys that can really ride, don't talk all the trash. They just ride what they want and just have fun. The ones that can't have to try and make up for it by trashing on someone. I am the only one that can tell me I bought the right sled, but it is interesting to hear what other people think.

What kind of can was on it?

I took my pro 163 out for its first ride today..just so happened both guys with me were riding doos, a 07 rev and a 11 etec 163....the etec had over 300miles on it(out of the chip )...2 ft of couple day old but very good powder...and some very nice hills to climb(neither of us are climbers)..the new etec is a much better sled then the older ones in my opinion..much easier to side hill...and carve..and it does climb very good...I actually could own one now compared to the older year xp's,...but ..the poo got the high mark all day..everytime.....by the end of the day the doo rider said he was totally comfortable on the poo..enough so that he offered to trade me straight acrosss(his cost 2600 more then mine)...I told him no..am very happy with my poo...all 3 of us swapped back and forth all day..and all agreed..the poo wasthe best sled on this day in these snow conditions..but both(and for that matter, all 3 including the cat) are about as equal as it gets....anyone can come out on top on any given day..just depends on the conditions....ride what you like, enjoy it..and most importantly..have fun ..be safe...and enjoy this great hobby we share..............

being a converted 15 year cat owner, after a couple of road rides and 2 days of over the hood pow my old M couldn't hold a candle to the pro. this thing pops up on top of the pow soooooo fast, carves soooooo quickly, flips from side to side like no other, nothing else EVEN COMES CLOSE!!!! have got just under 200 miles on mine and can already do things i wouldn't even try on my cat, such as being able to spin a 180 on a single lane road everytime:) i'm a boondocker to the core and this sled just installs confidence in its ability to do the same thing time and time again. don't get that feeling at the end of the day that i don't know if i can carve that hard when heading toward a tree, with the pro i just give it a lean and the thing turns itself! never seen a sled that can carve sooooo tight time after time. sorry doo owners but the pro is a generation beyond the xp.......

any chance you have gotten to ride with any of your m-8 buddies? how do they compare?..about equal or does one outshine the other?and what have your cat buddies had to say..good or bad about your sled?

went out friday with my buddie who has a m1000, he was calling my dealer the next day to see if he could get one. his M is no slouch either, full timbersled front and rear suspension, piped, blah blah. just trying to take off in 2 plus feet of pow the m would spin and trench sometimes almost to the point of sticking itself. not the pro, up on top of the snow right now. after watching me carve for mile after mile he said he had no choice:) thinking about seeing if my dealer will give me a kickback for all the business i'm gonna be sending him this season;)
