our fuel is cheap!!!

yah  but our dollar is weakening and some are rising rapidly

But alot of european countries and alot of other countries have alot of public transportation. I have to drive 18 miles to and from the office, then I get in my "field" truck and drive about 190 miles to and from the field

Well said Nate.

Comparing North America to Europe is unrealistic. With higher population density, improved public transportation and the fact that most European countries are so small compared to the US and Canada. You can drive a long way to get to the next town in North America and would pass through a whole country in Europe. So Europe pays more for gas, so what. If the powers that be decide to have us pay what the Europeans pay then we are all screwed.

plus a lot of the price of their gas is due to the governments taxing the heck out of it. i really hate this comparison because us to them is completely irrelevant.

Agreed with all said, it's just not the same. I think it's a crappy argument and pointless. Who cares if it's cheaper than in Europe, It's still about $2/g too much!

Come on graveler,
that is like saying compared to milk gas is cheap.
Most of the countries with higher per gallon gas cost also tax their gas as much as 4 times as much as we do.

In a lot of european countries owning and driving a car is a luxery, but then again, as has been stated, they also have a public transportation system that makes our laughable one even more of a joke.

Some places such as Colorado are slowly building a better public transport system, however there is a lot of political opposition to it.

i hate it when they compare us to other countries. people start hearing this and the next thing you know we'll be paying the same. think all countries probably pay close to the same for gas, like posted above things like public health care for everyone in some countries make them tax the heck out of it.

gas prices

just got back from England deisel was 1.25 pounds per litre works out to $10 a US gallon .Tax in england on gas and deisel is 66% of price.

Well, in Norway, we pay $12.7USD a gallon now... Not sure how you can say it can't compare? We've got NO public transportation where I live, the distances are FAR... Not highly poulated, long winters... Bad rodes, etc, etc...

We DO have alot of good healthcare though....
