I am looking at on '02 800 RMK with a 156 and I go out west one or two weeks out of the year. I had a 2000 800 RMK with twin SLP pipes and a 136 2inch and I loved it and I am wondering how the '02 compare or would I be happier just renting a Dragon?

had the 01 800 had the 02 800 156 snow check big difference was a great sled.have the 03 159 almost identical with 02,had twin pipes on both of them only difference is reverse on 03. still have 03 luv it to much to get the iq chassis, cant get use to dragons i pull them over to hard.you wont be dissapointed with 02 800 156.:beer;:beer;:D

I still ride a 02 800 chassis and love it, it is the best bang for your buck, if you can't afford a new one like me

I own both the 02 your looking at and a dragon 7. If it was me I wouldn't waste the time on the 02 , yes they are good sleds handle good but the 02 are getting old enough that if the clutches weren't maintained properly your prob going to be looking at a new bottom end on it. Me and my roomate both have them as back ups and they scream but don't compare to the new chassis. The dragons ride alot eaiser and if its a rental no worries about the maintainance on the sled. I would go the rental route if I was you . yea it will be stock. But my stock dragon takes me every where that my piped and clutched 02 will with half the effort out of me. Just my .02

If you only go for a week or two every year then just rent a sled. Why would you buy, maintain, store and trailer a sled for just 14 days of riding? If it were me I would rent and be on the newest sled possible. Just my .02

I do it cause "my name is Shawn and I'm an Addict":D Thought about just renting when I moved down here but I already owned my sled and had been looking for a good excuse to turn it into an all out mountain sled. Now it is since I can only really ride when I go out west. I have quite a few friends back home that have a second "out west only" sled. It all depends on if your really into modding stuff and having that "I did that" feeling. If your not that into modding your sled then rent, it's a lot cheaper than owning, licensing (in multiple states), insuring, and maintaining your own. Plus your always riding the new stuff.

the 02 is a great sled but by the end of the day aren't your arms ready to fall off from steering the thing all day? my buddie had 2 02 156 snowchecks and they were climbing machines but the steering was soooooo hard, by the end of the day i'm 2 handing one side of the bars just to get it to turn!

Both great sleds. 155-156 are great lengths. The 02 156 will definately out perform your 136 in the powder but it's not so long its hard to handle. Personally I love the edge, but I really havn't had much of a chance to play with the Dragon in the deep powder.

If it's an 800 Dragon with Walker Evans........and you are used to the Edge Chassis, I Would get the 02. The D8 would take you a few days to get used to since the WE are very soft and the sled dives. You may be unhappy fighting it and paying for it. I have both and I plan on improving the front D8 shocks ASAP. Still love the 02 though.
