Opinions on Finger tracks??

Last season we had 2 rmk 800's in our group the snow was deep one had a finger one had a challenger or a series IV can't remember, in the deep the finger doesn't work at all he was getting stuck all day and we were helping to get him out it sucked. If you have to get a finger i would get a maverick seen one on a m7 this season and it worked great but the snow wasn't as deep and fluffy as last season. The finger track works good in springtime conditions but in the fluff you will not like it. IMO

can't say a finger track is junk but there are better tracks for Utah powder..wet/set up or mealy snow..finger is great..I switched to a 136x2 finger with a 1.25 tall head ice screw in each finger for uphill drags...I was amazed that even on ice it hooked close to what chisels do and where the fingers were torn before i screwed them( that didn't sound right!) I was surprised that after many starts and on dirt also that every lug is still there. so if you are going to trail ride it maybe use less screws just for ice safety. another thing with the screws is I was able to screw them down enough to "shorten " the fingers for tunnel clearence.. I like the finger for some riding but for pure powder it would not be on my sled...JME

I put a couple thousand miles on a 144x2 finger track on my old 96 583 MXZ. The track was awesome on the trails I could beat 700's in a race. But when it came to climbing hills in 2ft. or more of powder, 600's would beat me. Also the track wouldn't throw enough snow on the heat exchange when going slow and it would over heat. So I had a looooong snowflap that dragged the ground.

For the midwest or spring riding it is a PERFECT track. And, contrary to what others are saying, mine holds its own even in light powder. Highly recommend it for the riding you intend.

Have FUN!

I have a 144" - 2" finger track on one of my sleds and I love it 90% of the time. In the powder, it is about the same as my 1-3/4"x 136 track on the same sled. Definately not a deep powder track but works great most everywhere else. JMO
