Opinions on Finger tracks??

I live in midwest but do alot of off trail riding
I've been running a 136" x 2" track on my proxr
I bought a IQ and am longtracking it, looking at 144" with kicked up rails (Ice Age) Should handle better when I do trail ride
Seen some finger tracks- 144'' x 2'' cheap
What's your opinion/experiene with finger tracks?
Keep in mind I mainly ride off trail in midwest, sometimes ride trails. I ocasionally get out west but ride with other guys who have no longer thann 144'' or bigger than 2'' lug

Had a finger track a couple years back, When you are on the way back to camp the finger track can be scary as heck in the corners when the corners are blown out from traffic. They are ok but I would not buy another one.

depends on the snow, wet heavy or spring settled/packed groomed trail type snow they cant be beat! In the pow they trench pretty bad.

Had 1 on my 99 RMK 144 x 2, SLP power and it rocked!! Other than the start of the season ( dont be trying to break trail!!) it worked really well, the 2.25 version was better for powder but still not even close to whats out there now, or even the old challenger style. If there is a crust under a foot of snow your still going to grab and go, but gotta be a throttle, bounce it off bark junky in the trees cause you dont have the "creep" ability with the shortness. When i retired that old girl in '04 i could easily pull the clutches way out of alignment just by making a power turn!!

Agreed, I put one on my 1150, rode with it twice, took it off, and I'll never own another.

I think you can find a better track that works in the fluff and hooks up about as good as a finger in the set up snow. JMO

I went from a Camo challenger back in 2004 to a 2.25" finger track. Never looked back.

Montana powder and set up powder and hard snow and spring snow...it's all goo.

Don't let people tell you the finger track is THAT bad in powder. I've been in some deeeeeeeeep stuff and it's just not that bad. NOTHING is THAT great in deeeeeeeeeep powder anyway.

I have an 1155cc twin with a 159" finger. It hooks HARD in the set up stuff. VERY hard.
I saw 162 marverick 16 wide that made the same depth of trench that I did this past weekend. Not much difference.

I haven't tried the NEW powder tracks, but I can't say I like what I've seen any better than what I've got for the riding I do.

Oh ya there the best there is good traction ,you can stop real fast nothing is better in powder. You know how snow does not like to go around, round fingers. i really think that the finger track does the best if it is powered by a psi motor. And every one in Montana runs them;)

I ran one for a couple seasons on my mod sled. Liked it. Deffinately better than the 2" challenger. Switched to a 16" wide 2.3 paddle Doo track. Like it better. Floats better than the finger and trenches less. Way better in the early season pow. My opinion is the finger is a good track, just not the best. If you ride wet heavy snow and not alot of dry pow, go for it!

Sounds like mixed reviews
How about- How would a 141" x 2" paddle(Kimpex, got a new one laying around) compare to a 144" x 2" finger as far as floating, trenching.
I'd imagine the finger would be better for set up snow or trails

Kimpex 141x2 is junk. They came stock on Yamaha Mtn. Max's. First thing to get thrown in the trash. Finger track is the best about 80-90% of the time. The trade off is more trenching, especially in powder and more weight. Finger track is heavy. My favorite riding is deep snow boondocking. that's why i switched from the finger track to the Doo track. Finger was a close second for me.

Heavy?
The 144'' finger is 1 lb. lighter than a 144'' challenger according to the cataloge (WPS) I'm looking at.
I used to have a 141'' Kimpex on my last sled and it worked pretty good here, so I should be pretty happy with a 144" finger. I'd think it would be at least as good in powder and better everywhere else

The 144 finger will be a great track for you, in my opinion go with the 2" not the 2.25. You can pick them up a couple hundred cheaper and the stiffer lug really makes them shine. Yammy's and that kimpex track were a nightmare!!

Well it will work fine in your application if the price is good get it. If you were in the mountains i would say no way no matter what that Scott guy says(I do'nt even think thats his real name) the stiffer paddles work real well as well, a 144 will never do good in the west no mater the track. ENJOY:D

Just so you know a Kimpex track is not the same track that came on the Mountain Max. Those POS tracks were made by Yokohama and they had a serious problem with the paddles cracking loose from the main webbing.

i love finger tracks, i think they should make them 16 wide 162 2.5, that would be sweet, when climbing to the top you get outta the powder and it gets all windblown, now there will be ice and what not up there, get 1inch carbide tipped ice screws and put them at the end of each finger, and wow, traction on icy surfaces at the top of a long climb, plus helps on breaking, now you cant do that with a regular paddled track
