Opinions on Compairing my AC with a Yamaha SC

I currently have a AC m6, about 120hp, have had it 3 yrs. I have always had a good history with Yamaha, outboards, motorcycles, and ATV's.
I ride mainly around the snowies outside of Laramie, WY. I live in MN. In MN a 120hp works great. I even took it to MI once and was able to have a great time. Problem is my 120hp takes a dump in the higher elevation.
I know most of you guys are probably getting 180 +hp from your sled and I dont thing I need that, though I'm sure I would find a way to use it if I had it.
My problem here is not very many people talk too good about the phazer Super Charged.
IYHO
If i consider my 120hp dumps to about 96hp at 6k feet and a stock 800 at about 160hp dumps to about 128hp at 6k feet. A Super Charged Phazer would be about 130hp, wouldn't that pretty much be 130hp at 6k feet and at 9k feet? Where the 800 is going to be at that hp or less. I probably would not turbo a 2 stroke.

I really dont think I want to mess with 200hp. I dont think I make enough trips to justify it. But I'm sure it would be fun.

Thanks

Ryan

Here is some feedback for you. From what you said in your shoes I would find a 1 year old M8 they work great. I came from cat and am happy with my 180MCX nytro but it is more work to ride than a M and from what I have seen you would not be happy with a phazer.

M'er

Have to agree the Nitro is a hand full especially in the trees. I have a friend with a super well tuned M 1000 with some linderman porting, head work and it is right there with my 18# Nitro. Maybe a M1000 would work??

18#s?? i would have to say that there is somthing wrong with your nytro, maybe keep up in the trees but i would hope not on the hills

But it doesn't sound like the steep high mark is his main conern or the number 1 riding he is after. He is talking about a phazer build anyway, so in that respect I still think M8 over Mod phazer.

You will be MUCH happier with an M8 than a supercharged Phazer. You will have a decent suspension. A far better chassis. Better track. Better skid. Better seat. Better handlebars. Better windshield. Better skis. Better handwarmers. Better reverse. Better running boards. Better cooling. Better looking.......I could go on and on.......

Nothin wrong with the Nitro. O ya and a PC program from Racin Station with some modification. Its all in the clutching boys.

Go with the M8. You won't be disappointed.

Picked up CF800

I picked up a new 2010 CF800, 141" PC, you guys are probably right, I'll like it better, already like it.
Thanks for the advice. I can always boost it too, right.

Facts for ya a SC sled tho still advantagous at elevation due to boost will have losses due to pullies, 8psi down low may only be 6psi up top, same scenario as the less dense air going into your naturally aspriated machine. Turbos run off a waste gate which maintains constant boost regardless of elevation thats why turbos excell so much up top, 8 psi is at sea level will still be 8psi at elevation. 4 strokes have lots of bottom end torque feathering them around in tree riding is never a problem. Oh and if a stock Cat is keeping up to your T-Nytro at 18 psi your Nytro only has 670cc of displacement! If your not going to turbo the Yammie dont bother, go buy the lightwieght doo 800 and ride it.

Plus the phaser will probably need race gas......800 2 stroke and you will be way happier and money ahead. A few die hards like the phaser but I have spent a lot of time on super charged/turboed phasers and the 800 2 strokes killed it 99% of the time.

IMO stock apex/nytro are the worst sleds and you are better off with any of the 2 strokes. If you are going to do boost/suspension then apex/nytro are the best. Again that is just my opinion.

Agree, buy an M8 and enjoy.

I have an 09 M1000 and a 2010 Turbo Nytro - wide open on the m = impressive, 16 #s on the Nytro = hang the f#ck on. Not even close !!

Ya have to agree if your running at 16# of boost and cant beat a stock m 800 around then the nytro isnt running right or someone isnt riding right? imo I would buy the two stroker before i would pick up a phazer and sc or turbo it.
