Well I think its almost a done deal. $4000 doesn't seem unreasonable to me for the sled, as long as it is in as good of shape as he claims. 1800 miles on the odometer, and its completely stock.

I would definately try to talk him down some from that. I have seen King Cats with some nice extras like a Boss seat etc. for under 4. I sold my 2004 800 last year for $3750 with a Boss seat, extros, V force III's, 2 wheel kit, Powder Pro's, can, etc. etc.

I agree w/ 1M800... $4000.00 seems a little much? (that amount and you should start looking at M-7's;)) I bought my 0'3 900 w a new motor, SLP perf. pack for 2500.00 (which I thought was a GREAT deal!:D). Cant see where your from, but anywhere close to northern Utah, check out KSL.com. A quick search and I saw 4 900's all under $3300.00 (including an 'o5 KING!) At least you might be able to deal down the one your lookin at;).

Well from what I have seen on Kijiji and other classified ads, it appears to be an average price. From my luck, it wouldn't matter how good of a deal I got, the next day one will pop up for less!

I'm gonna go with the minority on this one and stick with the Poo 900, but not without comments.

The Polaris has a much more advanced "rider forward" chassis that in itself is really nice, and the Polaris IQ bulkheads are the strongest on the snow. I will concede a few points that have been made also, they do need to be setup properly and watched closely to be reliable. The 06 is the better of the 2 for reliability as the 05 crank and pistons were far more prone to failure based on their respective designs.

I've got an 05 166 with all the 06 updates on it and it's an animal:eek::D I look forward to running it against my buddies 1000 once we get some good snow on the steeps, the way mine runs, it should be fun...:D

For people like myself who do want to pursue a Polaris 900 with their eyes open, the 900 forum is the place to be, it is bar none the most informative place on the net for Polaris 900 info, if you want to hear about the Polaris 900 in all its glory... and heartache, that is the place to find first-hand info.:beer;

I bet for the price of either one of those, you could pick up a Rev or a M7/M8 and have a reliable, new chassis sled....just a thought. That's definetly the way I would go....

x2. I picked up a 2004 Rev for about the same $$$ I got out of my 2003 1M900. Best upgrade I've ever made. Rider forward is a hole new style of riding, especially in the deep.:D

I own an 05 900, I had many issues with it the first two seasons, the Dealers were of little support, ..in all fairness to them though, there wasn't much they could have done, they were just as stuck with this abortion as the owner was.

Some positives though, at least with the chaincase, you never need to change the chaincase oil, as you are always flushing the system with new oil...

The biggest bonus to owning a Polaris 05 900 RMK is that you will not require insurance, I could leave mine running in the staging area parking lot, un-attended all night long and no one would ever steal it!!!! They may come and shut it off, as the cloud of excessive exhaust smoke would be hard to miss, ..but they wouldn't steal it!!! Beyond theft insurance, if you lost it and it hit a tree, ...what are you really out???, again no insurance required!!!!

As Veedy mentioned above, mine has around 8800 MILES on it now, it is on the second crank shaft, (since 3150 miles), ..it continues to run, ..it has only left me stranded twice, however, it has pulled a lot of other sleds off the mountain over the years!!! Kind of like a good old farm tractor that never gets traded in, because it isn't worth anything and NO Dealer wants it, so it just keeps hanging around, ....still good for doing the chores....LOL

That made me laugh - hard.

I have an late release 03 900 cat. As others have said, very reliable. A few cheap mods and I can ride this sled better in powder than my M7.

the 9 is just fine.

Lets not bash the rmk 9 too much. This machine is a beast.... factory. This machine is a monster with a few mods. In my experience there are few machines that can hang with it in the deep pow, and on the steep, my friend you have been highmarked!!!!!! Next best thing to a turbo. Stick with the 06.

In a month I should have a good answer for you. We have a new guy going on out trip with a stock 900RMK. My old man rides a 2004 King Cat , basically stock. We'll see which sled makes the trip without any problems!

I've had my 04 1M 151" 900 efi since it was brand new and its still pretty much stock except for the riser and can. 3700 miles on her and I've went thru 4 recoil ropes (typical) thumb and right handwarmer, and changed the highfax once. GREAT sled, DEPENDABLE sled.... I would buy it all over again if I had to. WISHLIST: electric start and reverse.

If you want a highmarking beast a set up 06 166 9 will get the mark with ease... still give any new sleds a run.

So basically everyone who voted for a 900 RMK in this thread needs to PM me so I can sell you the spare parts you most definatley need :face-icon-small-hap

Dunno anything about the 900 RMK other than stories, but have put miles on an 04 1M with little to gripe about. Had 1 problem 3 years ago, driveshaft bearing went out, kind of wierd as that was just a day of cruising. It is a fun sled, no aftermarket other than Simmons Ski's. Easy to ride, and always starts. Though that first tug is hard as heck when the beast is cold.

I've owned 29 Cats and just bought my 4th Polaris.
Nothing wrong with the Cat I rode one of those sleds for a year.
I just bought Harley Squirlle Nut's 900 166 that he had the 975 done to it.
I know the sled and understand peeps have had issues. Todd in H/R rode his 900 for years with no problems and I know other who have done the same.

There is a guy on here goes by "Compfusion" built a motor mount that helped with vibration issues. Not cheap but everyone I talked to says it works. There are a gazillion of those 900's on the trails in eastern Canada and the US much more that there was every mountian sleds.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. LOL:face-icon-small-hap

I don't have to, my 900 had to be towed out 5 times in the 3 years I owened it, it only ran right 1 out of every 4 rides, and when it damn near left me stranded 35 miles from my truck last year, well .... You get the picture.

There is a good reason Polaris only made that sled for 2 years.

It was a monsterous peice of garbage.
