One FREEKING mile!!!!!

I said it before, should have payed a dealer to do it. I did the same thing so I had to tell myself the same thing, worst part is I did it twice. Just not worth it. Hope you get it figured out, best of luck.

A weak coil on the stator can cause a lean condition due to the fact that it is not supplying enough voltage to the fuel pump and fuel pressure will be too low. Injectors have a pulse duration calibration and fuel pressure is critical to delivering the proper amount for each burst.

i see how a low fuel pressure condition can happen because of a coil starting to go but to just cause one side to burn down is where I am having trouble.

But I don't remember seeing any pictures of the other cylinder, if its real lean than maybe that was just the first one to go down

My 07 M1000 melted down the mag side 3 times last year under 100 miles between 1 and 2 and 4.3 miles when it melted the last time. Cat finally decided that it must be the injector so they changed it. I hope that was the problem.

Pictures of the piston and inside the cylinder. I hoping that the cylinder doesn't need to be re nicd. It feels like it may be build up from the piston. What do you guys think? I am going to take it into shop and have them see if they can find out why it burned down again.

Did you wash the cyls out really good with soapy water to make sure you got all the grit out of them before you assembled your engine? One of the biggest mistakes that people make is not cleaning parts thouroghly enough before they put stuff together. If I didn't clean it myself and know that it is clean enough to eat off of, it is not clean. I hope you find your problem and I sure hope you can clean up that cyl up with some acid so that you don't have to get it replated.
Thanks Dan

I am going to go back to the warm up.

When you have lots of fuel it is cooling the top of the piston off so your EGT's look good, wash is good, no indications of a problem. But the skirts on the pistons will swell if not properly broke in and you will not have enough clearance. Thus they skuff.

It is either crap left in the motor when you put it together. (But it doesn't really look like this is the problem). Or the pistons grew faster than the cylinder.

You say it went down the first time due to the ring pin coming out. Most pin failures are caused by detonation. most. May well be that the problem still exists?

I just dropped it off at Big Boys Toys so we will see what they say. But I think you are right. I think it seized because I didnt break it in right.

I have had several brand new sleds, several new top end jobs, etc. And I have always added some oil to the gas and rode it. Never even thought about a proper break in procedure.

Well my dealer did a full top end on my M1000. Again I did the same thing I have done dozens of times before. But this time it didn't work. After a lot of talking with the dealer and arctic cat directly I have come to the conclusion that these big bores need to be properly broke in. I found out the hard way.

One other thing that really got me is I measured the new, stuck pistons, and they were small. Like they were way undersized. The cylinders were perfect and on the tight end of the tolerances. But again the pistons were small. So from what I understand this is typical with a piston that has been hot, it will heat shrink a bit when cool. So you can only imagine the amount it grows when getting hot.

Kind of funny that after sticking piston after piston AC comes out with a dealer service bulletin telling them the MUST go through the proper warm up. Because they can't rely on the consumer doing it. (This was for the HCR 800's) but still the same story. Everything was just tight.

Good luck with it.

My bet will be just like my dealer was. You four corner seized it because you didn't let it warm up enough. That was a BATTLE. I won and they fixed it again. But be prepared to here that.

AC has told the dealers they will not cover four corner seized piston jobs. Well not really AC but Cornerstone, they were the ones covering my sled on the extended warranty. What a joke they are!

another thing to throw out there...the pistons were in there the correct way right? dot towards the exhaust on both? just somethin that crossed my mind
