OLD trail sled conversion

So I have an old Poo RXL SKS that I want to long track for my son to ride. What do I need to do--
Obviously I need a long track (likely 151 but 144 would work)
Possibly an Extra 10 suspension.
Rail and tunnel extensions

What about the drivers or chain case. Anything need to happen there? Again, this is a need to not best case senario.

I simply want this sled to be able to get around on the hill. It will not be a rocket or a huge climber but one that he can get around on and injoy until I save up a few bucks to get him a newer sled.

What do I need to do?

What is your budget? You might be able to find a used sled for what it would cost. I found a 2002 Summit ZX 700 151 for the wifey for 1800.

x2 with PJ. A buddy and I just converted a storm to a 144 and on paper it sounds good. When you tear into it ends up costing quite a bit more. You find things that need to be replaced that you didnt expect and add ons you might as well do well you have it apart. just my .02

Go for it, especially if you can get your son involved, if you can do all the work yourself it will be very cheap. Did one for my grandson, cost $60 for an old Viper track, total cost, plus lots of scrounging.

Thats one sweet looking SS. Does it have the stock 440 in it or is that modded too?

So gentlemen,
I know this may not be the best investment I have ever made but it is the only way I can get him a sled this year.
What do I need to do?
What are some of the hidden things that I might not know about?

And yes, I can do the work myself.

Stock engine works well for him.
I don't know anything about your Polaris, but a lot of the old sleds won't clear a 2" track, if thats the case it's a lot of work to do a drop and roll.

Go for it, someone mentioned hidden problems but you can find that with any used sled.

If you can find a short lug long track that would be ideal, smaller drivers are another option. If your son is under 150 lbs. it will follow almost anywhere you take him.

The storm we just built has a 2" 144 track and no drop and roll. Running a 7 tooth driver with a 144 rmk skid. Start looking for a used skid or rail extensions to use your current skid. You should be able to find a track pretty easy and for under 300 bucks.
