OLD SCHOOL RIDING DAYS (Daily Pics)

Thread Rating

'78 Ski-Doo Super Mod with a 521 Rotax on nitrous.
'88 Wildcat 650

Brother's racing against eachother. Obviously the 521 on the juice wiped the floor with the Wildcat, but if you listen to my Uncle tell the stories....he was never beaten. LOL

I actually won my first *Big Sled* trophy on the Wildat during a 100 Mile House oval race at the old track. The Juniors only drag raced, and they wouldn't let me pilot the sled by myself(for good reason) so my Uncle held on while I mashed the throttle. I guess he had to pry my hand off the throttle in order to stop.

back in 2011 my 800 Iguana as I called it took a **** in Cooke first day 3 miles down the road. got it back to town and swapped it out for the ole bar runner! one of the funnest trips I have had. I got that old phazer where people thought it couldn't go and turned a lot of heads and got a lot of laughs. it was a better sled than my dragon that's for sure! ha ha here is the video from that trip

Oh, this is going to be fun. There are only a couple of us “oldies” on here. Most of these “kids” weren’t even born yet in the “Olden” days.

I started snowmobiling in Alaska in 1968 at the age of 34 on a 1966 SnoSport made by Rupp. One cylinder Sachs, I think maybe 252 cc. 16 hp??

Bought my first Arctic Cat, 1969 Panther 399 Kohler. Started racing with some friends as team, "Hell-Cats". Race on weekends and put missing cleats on for next weekend. Races back then were cross-country, Hatcher Pass 60; Talkeetna -Anchorage 200, 2 day event; Midnight Sun 600 from Anchorage to Fairbanks; plus shorter local ones.

Even won a couple.

1971 Arctic Cat Panther 440. One of my favorite snowmachines (that's what we called them back then. A sled was what you pulled behind with your camping gear or the kids)

Fuzz, your pictures really take me down memory lane.
My dad bought a 72 Cheetah 340 back in 76. I was 4 back then.
He also bout a 73 Puma 399 a couple years later.

I began riding with him immediately and logged SO MANY miles on that Cheetah.
Bought it from my dad in about 1989 when I was in high school.
I finally sold it in 96. I actually do miss that sled.

You are my HERO fuzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I'm still kicking at the ripe old age of 79 I sure hope I can still get out on the snow and enjoy snowmobiling:)
