Thoughts from the silver beard crowd on the alpha? I ride with a couple of young guys on alphas and it's crazy how good they work. I am concerned about it always being ahead of me and giving up my 170 plus track length. I am not a little guy.

LOL, proud member of gray beard/balding riders group here!
I have a couple of friends who have Alphas and I got to spend some time on a buddy's Alpha 6 yesterday. I think that it may be actually easier to ride, mainly because the track has so much hook up.
When climbing you can back out of the throttle more and get back on it again easier, because the track hooks up so well. This also means that you don't have to carry as much ground speed through the technical parts. The track has so much traction that the sled will climb up on top of the snow and go when you need it.

Hopefully Cat will offer a Alpha conversion kit for the 2018 sleds this year!:eyebrows:

me too...:face-icon-small-hap....i find i can use 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to keep track speed down, maneuverability up, and still go full power without trenching out...i loved when we went from 136 inch tracks into the mid 150 range, even more when we went to mid 160's...now we have an even bigger advantage with the 3.5 pitch track, rolled chain case, and alpha power, clutching and chassis....truly a sled for all who can look beyond brand bias and remember, sledding is fun...and i have more fun with less work than anything i have ridden to date, and that's a lot of sleds....:face-icon-small-coo
