Ok to use Synthetic Gear Oil in the Diamond Dirve

dd oil

several years ago on here this issue was bashed to death. If I recall, not one reported a known oil related DD case failure other than no oil at all.

Many many shops and individuals reporting quite a wide variety of oils used with good results. Once you have a dd case apart you see its simple, no tricky pieces that were'nt in autuo transmissions 20 years ago under much more stress. The little plastic black cat bottles are a marketing tool.

I have used synthetic walmart gear lube for 3 or 4 years in 4 different DD I have owned, no issues..........other than synthetics have a bad habit of going right by poor gaskets and through cracks. So case leaks a little, will leak more with a synthetic.

Most oil related DD case failures are from NOT CHANGING THE OIL OFTEN ENOUGH, these are cheaply made cases that shed lots of steel and aluminum
particles as they break in initally, change everything often the first 500 miles, the most critical time, flush and spin the case for 2 or three minutes, than change the oil again. Its cheap. No magic in the little bottles of cat oil if you leave it in too long.
