Good Luck! Is he drunk all the time, stoned? If not be thankful that he has a healty addiction. This sport is athletic, good for socialization, and for the inner peace of any human being. Good guy friends and yourself will find that this is as close to the all american way as anyting. Lookout if you visit the ATV or KTM shops in the spring. It all goes hand in hand. Smoked ribs and steaks also are a plus, along with beer with friends. You will find non better. Its all good, look out for Subaru's with ski racks. LOL

I guess it could matter if you and your husband have a joint bank account and the mortgage isnt being paid, the kids have no clothes etc. Otherwise....who cares? There are plenty of other addictions more expensive than snowmobiling....

You know why I love my sled so much? It don't get pissed if I ride another sled!!:beer;:beer;

I'm sure this is absolutely the wrong place to b*** about this but okay all of the sudden my wonderful hubby is completely obsessed. It has seemed to taken all of two years, but now he is completely consumed. I'm hoping that someone can offer some advice. All he thinks about is SNOW!

He started off taking only 1 trip a year out west, but now is up to 4-5. Each trip lasting 5 days. And the GEAR--F*** 500 for new bibs/coat (his old ones seemed just fine to me), and boots 100 or more(only the best for him-KLIM) and new sled last year 10,000--and all the upgrades pipe, etc--who knows what else (shouldn't you get enough with that price to at least ride--lord knows from the dealer my car did exactly what it was supposed to do with no upgrades), BEKIN, backpack, and now . . . . wants to spend another 900 on something else-- isn't enough enough!

Maybe there are other husbands out there who are doing the same thing to their wives and can lead me to some support group for Sledding WIDOWS!
Sorry for the reference to widow--probably made some of you think of the "widow maker"

Thanks--Don't know where else to turn!

I want to know where he's getting Klim boots for 100.00. And 5 hundy for bibs/jacket, sure ain't Klim. Oops, maybe got him into more trouble

You think that's bad. I know a woman who's husband called her from out West, on one of his trips. He told her, guess what, I just found a job out here, you moving or not. She moved. Now he's closer to the mountains. Goes all the time. NO reason to work, if you can't do what you love. Life's too short.

Shopping.......yeah, for sledding, sled gear, sled bling, sled accessories, etc. :)

There is NOTHING like being out riding....seeing things you'd never see any other way.....enjoying the outdoors...being with the one you love....and your friends....not a bad addiction at all to have!!

Seriously....if you haven't tried it, give it a shot. And why ride on back.....that's no fun. Get out and ride on a machine by yourself. There is no comparison to anything else. :D

Like others.....I'd be worried if he were doing other things (cheating with other women, gambling your money away, sites he shouldn't be visiting on the internet when he's married, etc).

If you're with the right crew....riding with a group of guys can be fun. You have more teachers, more help if you need it, more peeps to watch out for you.....it's the best way there is to learn (though it is nice to have time with just you and the hubby on occasion to get out and practice). I'm usually the only gal with all the people we ride with, and I have NO complaints at all about it. They will be just as excited when you accomplish new things, and that feels good. :)

It's a fun sport.....and with good gear and the right sled for you, it's not like you are having to spend that kind of money every year. It lasts a long time.....that's what you are paying for (quality).

(And yes, I can check this for IP......just in case)

women have shoping, spending money and their hobbies....we have one too...and that is sledding. and i would do what all the other guys suggested...go with him one time and see what it is all about. look on the bright side...he could be doing something else...or someone else

Seems to me you have three choices...

Join him

Join the gals of the guys he rides with

Leave him

I have never known a guy to give up ridin, unless injured or broke. My wife spends a lot of time in the winter with the wives of the guys that I ride with. She has been ridin with me, and not much interest there. I am glad option 2 works.

ALL I can Say is WOW

All I can say Is that I just realized how much I appreciate my Wife.......She sleds some but not much..She put in about 800 miles last year.............But my wife loves the idea that I can go out and have clean fun with the guys and not worry..........
I mean my wife already asked me what sled parts or clothes I want for X-Mas.....I mean is my WIFE AWSOME or what.....

So I guess as I see it I thankfully have a few choices here

Suck it up princess

If you can't beat him--join him

Get an extra job to help support the habit

OR just support him overall . . . and stop the b****

(I really did like the idea of the girls only trip to Mexico though!)

Where does he go out west????

Ask to go along for one trip and see if you like it. Rent a decent sled, and ask him to take ONE (doesn't have to be the whole 5 days) day and show you how to ride. I'm sure he won't think it's too much to ask. Each trip, you will get better and more confident. Soon, you'll be ready to join up with the whole group.

It's probably not my place to say, but I'll bet he's not going on these trips to get away from his wife/family....This sport is extremely addictive. It has really become a lifestyle for my wife and I. She doesn't go on every day trip, but usually every other. We take one major trip per year, and she helps me plan these trips.

Please at least try it once. One day out of his five day trip won't kill him, and you'll get to see if it's something you will enjoy. Worst case, you get to hang out in the rustic lodge and read a good book......At least your nights won't be lonely....

Funny you say that! I'm sure my obsessed hubby will check the boards when he gets home from work and wonder the same thing! --It's not about the sledding, it's about the all consuming nature of it all! From Aug to May it's all he thinks about!

well i guess you are lucky because its all i think about all year:D

You should consider yourself lucky I think about sledding all year almost everyday :D but you would be really surprised how patient he can be when teaching you about something he is so passionate about. snowmobilers love sharing there sport with others especially newbies cause there easy to hi mark :D
