Ok I think I got a Lemon

Ok so im not new to Polaris as my last sled was a 2012 pro 155 and before that a 09 D800 I also have a 09 RMK700 for back up.I snowchecked a 14 red le 163 ES.I traded my 1500 mile 12 pro on it.I was very much excited to get new 163.When sled finally arrived it had a bunch of gouges on the tunnel behind seat post.I thought no biggy cosmetic.Going over sled later I found a stripped engine plate bolt, bad quick fastener, skis out of alignment.Again all no big deal I new dealer would look after me.Second ride out lights on dash go out and are blinking.I return to dealer and notice cords pulling on belt.Dealer replaces belt and brake switch which had rubbed through. At approx 300 miles I got a bad bog where it would not climb past 4500 rpm.Returned to dealer no codes they thought moisture. Now with bog it is getting worse I returned to dealer @497 miles throwing codes falling all over its self.Dealer replaces throttle block saying TSS on codes.I'm happy but scepticle and pick up sled again.I go out today on an epic spring pow day and same bad bogging and check engine light flashing.Sled stumbles and falls all over itself today again from 4-6k.I swap with a buddy that has exact sled his runs clean like they should.I have sinced returned sled to dealer once again.I have always run shell gold and VES oil and added extra to tank.Getting real tired of this sled and have ask dealer to buy it back from me,swaping for a 15 at minimal cost too me.Sorry for my rant but getting tired of tweaking my back going into a hole expecting sled to go and not fall on its face sending me forward. My 12 never missed a beat. My D800 never blew up in 3 years and always ran good.

You could have. It's always possible with any motorized vehicle. Hopefully the dealer will take care of you.

Sounds like your dealer is a lemon too. I'd ask them to buy it back and take your $$ elsewhere for a replacement if you can. Good luck!

Look up, do you have a black cloud hanging over your head? My poo Pro's have been so wonderful and flawless in both form and function I wouldn't consider purchasing anything else, going on 5,000 miles of gas and go.

No **edited**, one day you may get stuck with something that just doesn't work right it ain't all roses out there.Dealer is offering a 15 RMK 163 for about $2600 difference plus golden ticket.

The guy rides 5000 miles on a sled. In BC, at 2500-3000 miles they are toast. He rides waaaay different than u do. As in, not so hard.

$2600 difference plus golden ticket (worth $1000) sounds like a good deal to me.

Musta been built on a monday or friday!

My 12 runs flawless. had to rebuild the motor at 2500 but only cost me 50 bangers and two weeks at the dealer! Now she runs stronger then ever with 350 on a new motor!

Yup you nailed it built on a Friday. Apparently they have installed new injectors after my urging them too try.Bad injectors will not throw a code.I have been complain ing about this 4-6 k RPM midrange bog for the last 300 miles.Seems all these new age mechanics do is read codes of the digital wrench. I just need too go out and test it yet again. I don't really want too upgrade after trading in my 12 last year. $2500 is still $2500.

It is probably time to make injector test equipment and training a necessary part of a dealerships service dept. Mod shops will need to jump in too soon and make it part of a "build" to be sure.

Not much is not fuel injected anymore and semi-direct inj allows lean fuel mixtures with lower lbs of fuel on top of that. Small flaws will show up quickly.
These changes have to come from the OEM with revised trouble shooting paths provided for the techs to follow because you only get paid for all your time if you follow their steps.

In defence of the techs at snowmobile-bike shops. They work with much less sophisticated diagnostics than say automotive and have to follow the steps laid out in the shop-warranty procedure first. Their boss says-so so he gets paid.
Another fact about this small industry is, a tech jumps into what seems like a dream job, learns his-her trade and gets good at it. Actually becomes a mechanic.
Later he gets married, has children, buys a house and money becomes big lol. Fact is you can jump and get paid 2 or 3 times the money turning a 2" wrench over a 3/8" wrench. Heck, you can get paid more using a shovel and dig a hole.

Everyone wants financial excess so they can buy a new sled every year or two and get to use warranty. Even the techs.
IMO, maybe next time you are dissatisfied with service you should hit the nail on the head. Grab the owner if you can find him and ask him where "Dr John" (or who ever) went and why?

I've got an issue on mine. Similar to that. Bogs only when I've been sitting for 5 or 10...takes a bit to warm up...then it's good.

My dealer jumped on the injector idea as soon as I brought it up.
Just waiting to pick my sled up any time.

Drop off at dealer and tell him you don't want it back until it runs properly. Tell his this will include him taking it for a test ride. I'm guessing dealers hate doing that, but sometimes it is the only way...I think sometimes issues are difficult/impossible to replicate in a shop on a stand.

Lemons happen from time to time. Dealer sounds like a pretty stand up guy if he is offering you a deal on the 2015. Take the deal and get back to happy on your brand new 2015 next season. Heck, I would trade my 2014 on a 2015 for $2600 difference and my Pro has been perfect!

Yes I have asked them twice now to take it out and ride it.I do have until the 15 th to order a 15.Yes I would love too have Dr John look at it but he doesn't do Polaris warranty work.I do have to get it out one more time too see if bog is indeed gone otherwise I'm going too take the $2600 deal and get the Regular RMK with the chaincase and extra cooler.Season is pretty much a write off anyway. Yup anything mechanical can be an issue I guess I have been lucky till now.

check for throttle cable freeplay..needs next to zero play.....then check tps setting with a multi meter....
