Oil ?? Synthetic back to mineral ??

I just had some work done on my quad at the dealer.
They opted to change my oil for me.
Problem is they put reg 10-40 in it and I was running synthetic. I have always heard that once you switch it not good to switch back.
Need some feed back on this..
Should I change it back ? Its been in there and ran a bit while loading. Would I need to change the filter also ?
Thanks.

I would change it back just for the fact the oil is so much superior. As for if it will hurt it will not. They actually blend the two oils to achieve the lower end synthetic blends for price sensitive buyers so I dont think you will have any troubles.

Not so fast. It depends on the oil that you were running before. 9.9999 times out of 10 it won't make any difference, however on SOME synthetics (Castrol Syntec for example) they have additives that "attack" carbon. This is to say they attach themselves to, and surround carbon particles to make them easier for the filter to catch. This normally isn't a problem but when the oil change is done some risidual oil is left in the engine. The conventional oil is carbon based so there is a chance that the leftover synthetic will react with the new conventional and start gumming up the internals. This is very rare but just to let you know it can happen. Back when I was in school for auto mechanics we did some experiments on synthetic vs. conventional oils, and found that if the replacment oil was dirt cheap crap it could cause this reaction.
