Oil recommendation for '14 pro 800

Yes you can just drill two small holes on inside part of cap, just into area where the ball bearing is at.polaris puts a tank vent on some sleds,in addition to a vented cap!!!Look at a 2013 550 shift part#7052464,7052362,7052208 and some tubing and drill a 9/16 hole in top of oil tank.Thats about $10 worth of parts.I drilled cap on every sled i own, also put this tank vent on one to try it .If you drill cap don't go thru the outside of cap.

Oil use..

In answer to your question, there is a fix for venting your oil tank. Google the phrase " northstar performance snowmobile" . They offer a vented oil cap and a vent kit for the tank. I just installed the tank vent and it works like a champ.

I was running VES Gold and switched to Klotz. Works great for me. Many of my friends run it with great success. Hearing great things about Legend as well. Don't think you could go wrong either way.

What is wrong is a dealer suggesting that it was your choice of one premium oil over the oem that caused the meltdown....

Vent the tank...;-)

Ive blown 2 pro motors in 1100 miles and 1 cat ho 800 in 1100 mi (both stock) on Legend zx2sr. It's no miracle and no better than ves gold plus

So my dealers head mechanic told me not to pre mix an ounce or 2 with my gas yet im hearing more guys say to do it. My 13 pro barely uses any oil (VES gold) maybe an inch for every tank....my old 10 Dragon use to guzzle the oil until the engine blew at 800 miles.
I wish I knew more about oil cuz im sick of payin $65 gallon for VES that im not sure works that well anyway????
My uncle uses Shell Advanced Ultra snowmobile & has over 5000miles (no rebuild) on his Dragon and my cousin uses his old cat with 4000miles....all Shell. $31 for a 5L jug...............I like how my VES jugs always come half full....JOKE!

Turn your oiler up till it uses at least 40:1. Maybe vent your tank better? I also premix 3/4-1 oz per gallon.
Oil recommendation off Indy Dans site. Other builders say the same
I STRONGLY recommend NOT running POLARIS synthetic oils in our TORQUE MASTER MOTORS.
Save yourself some money, and buy a good brand of mineral base oil ( don't worry about your exhaust valves )
Polaris VES GOLD ( is the most over priced oil on the market. )
Synthetic oils draw moisture, And in very humid climates cause severe rust problems.

Oils I recommend -

1 - Castrol T2 ( about $20.00 per gallon )
2 - Injex ( About $20.00 per gallon )
3 - Arctic Blue ( $20.00 per gallon ) This is a blend, and a really great oil for the money.

Many other oils are suitable -
Look For these Certifications • API Service TC • JASO FB

Had good luck with Arctic Blue this year so far. Cant wait to see how the valves look after a season. If they arent horribly gummed up, ill stick with this oil for everything 2 stroke. Ive run it all too, klotz, legend, amsoil , polaris, injex, yamalube...

Why recommend a JASO FB oil when a JASO FC or FD oil has stricter specs for lubricity, detergency, exhaust smoke requirements than an FB oil?

Blue Marble High Performance 2-cycle oil meets or exceeds the specifications of JASO FD, TC-W3®, and ISO EGD so it looks like a great oil to consider using and I don't see how it could clog power valves if it meets FD specs...just saying.
