Oil recommendation for '14 pro 800

Been running Redline for years in multiple Polaris sleds including a Turbo Dragon and an Edge Big Bore (935). It works very well for me.

My dealer is telling me that I will void my factory power train warranty if I use a mineral Oil. He even went as far as to say he called Polaris dealer services and said Polaris power train warranty I got when I snow checked my 2013 Pro that I have to run VES Gold!

I do not believe them. anyone know anything I may not?

Your dealer wants to sell you oil.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Title 1, __101-112, 15 U.S.C. __2301 et seq. This act, effective July 4, 1975, is designed to "improve the adequacy of information available to consumers, prevent deception, and improve competition in the marketing of consumer products . . .."

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S.C. SS 2301-1312 (1982), and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission Act, a manufacturer may not require the use of any brand of product (or any other article) unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty.

"No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name...."(15 U.S.C. 2302(c).
So if the consumer is told that only the original brand of part/product will not void the warranty, he should request that the OE part/product be supplied free of charge. If he is charged for the part/product, the manufacturer will be violating the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or other applicable law.

It should be noted that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a federal law that applies to consumer products. The Federal Trade commission has authority to enforce the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, including obtaining injunctions and orders containing affirmative relief. In addition, a consumer can bring suit under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Any issues with idle speed with that much pre-mix? Had a code on my 13 ( Low Voltage). Seemed to bring my idle speed down. Haven't tried it since but I'm all for more upper cylinder lube.

My '13 RMK hasn't ever had a single tank run through it without 1oz/gal premixed in it, no codes, no failures, no issues at all. I've never turned the oil pump up either. I think you pretty well have to pre mix with these motors because nothing gets into your intake tract, it all gets injected onto the crank. I'm betting its why i've kept pistons in it ... IDK, the motor is bone stock too so I'm sure that helps, but I have had outstanding luck with the Legend stuff on my turbo'd cat as well.

Amsoil does not recommend Dominator for your sled. I was told by them it's for race sleds, they suggested Interceptor. I know many swear by Klotz. We are currently running VES Gold.

Well, before Interceptor, it was the only synth oil they sold, and better than sliced bread according to them at the time. FWIW, film strength is great for deep snow sleds, corrosion inhibitors are low, ran for at least 10k miles in stock and race Doo motors, and it worked well. Lots of good oils out there now.

My Dealer just told me that my motor in my 13' Assault blew up for the 2nd time b/c i was running Legend, he said ever other Polaris they sold runs the Gold, and mine was the only one to blow. i call BS on this.

No, but Polaris is asking a lot of Q? my dealer is really good, should have another rebuild motor in a week. I just know Legend Oil is 1000x better then VES Gold. I might just run mixed gas all the time, rather then just for the break-in.

Have them check your oil cap..With oil line off of pump, let it drain in a jug,
I lost two motors in a month. When i did this oil would flow freely for about 30 seconds, then would just drip, when i would loosen cap it would flow again.I swapped caps off my other assault and it would flow till tank was empty..Huge problem with some caps and polaris won't admit it

No way its the legend, or most any other oil as long as the motor is getting enough of it. How much does it use? What is failing?

1st time was PTO side crank bearing let go and seized the piston solid. this time they said same thing but Mag. Side, piston didnt seize tho. last ride before it blew the 2nd time, we were out riding for 4hrs none stop. used up i think 1" or so out of the tank. dont know if thats lots or not enough.

x2..... Pretty sure this is the reason my friends blew up.
Cap was plugged and you couldn't blow through it.

Sounds like its not using much. Usually after 2 rides, 40 miles and 8-9 gallons a ride I'm down around the add mark but I also turned my pump up.

Interceptor

I am on my third barrel of Interceptor. Have 3600 mile on my 11 Assault, 2300 on my 12 RMK and 1000 on my 14 Pro. I supply oil for around 8 sleds, no issues. We tried blue marble, but the valves get dirtier faster, with the interceptor I clean them every 750 miles, and I could go longer.

It's for sure your oil cap. That's not near enough oil. Problem is they work part time and you think it's getting oil. Mine was using way more oil than that, oil gets in the cap and makes it worse.all it takes is a few miles of no oil and it's toast, I always had 100-1 in my tank also.

Or worst case scenario.....it actually does run on VES gold. Not even that bad either.

I know weird right?
