oil pump worries

i got the new pump from silber and works great at low elevation but when i get to the mountain the thing shows no pressure until you get it wound up pretty good then it builds pressure. is this normal? i worry about the fact that there is no pressure registering most of the time im cruising and now when i grab a fistful and let off i hear some sort of grinding noise. i havent had a chance to look but im hoping its not my turbo. is there any way of wiring a resistor or putting in a battery so it would have constant pressure?

Are you saying that you run an oil pressure gauge? How do you know you loose oil pressure at elevation? Are you looking at boost or fuel pressure possibly.

It could be possible that as you warm up the sled/oil that it becomes thinner and does not show the same pressure even though the volume is probably fine. You pump should be 12v which shouldn't care what elevation or RPM your motor is at as long as its running. Is your system using the OEM injector system to oil the turbo?

You could pull the oil supply line at elevation and fire up the sled to see that you have good flow. I'm just a little unclear on your symptoms here. The pumps dont move a lot of oil as a lot isn't needed. maybe a little more detail or explanation. Have a good one. EW

yes i run oil pressure gauge silber kit comes with it. when i am at homr elevation i start it and shows 4psi at idle. took up into mountains start up shows none but if i get on it i can watch oil pressure rise if i stay into the throttle for a little bit. this is the new pump for his kits the old ones did that too. you would pull oil line off and just a trickle would come out. i would just like a more constant supply because most of the time the gauge shows zero

We have been running 5w30 oil and they ready around 6 psi on the gauge.

i got 0w30 but i would think it should read something right.. and not only when im wrapped out? if your around now justin ill be gettin ahold of you on monday

we found out west, the 0w30 wont register pressure until your start moving a bit.

ahh.. well that is good info. i will switch to some 5w. i thought that the 5w was just worse for cold starting getting it moving in the morning
