Oil Consumption

It was a percentage less than the 800 and took mine and others money. Then things changed. It reallly doesn't matter. The point is they were advertising oil consumption. Nobody else has. The fact is they use more oil than Polaris when road in real world and not down some trail. The fact is they aren't stellar on fuel in real world snow. Ive had everything. On a side note i would have blew my alpha up the first ride if it was a real ride. Oil light was flashing but didn't think anything of it because it was full and i had plenty of gas left. I was completely out of oil when i looked at shop. Only did that for one ride.

Doos are thirsty for oil, more than other OEMs. But they run better than the others. So what's an extra $50-100 of oil per season to not be down? NBD IMO. Ride on folks.

I remember them touting that you may only need to fill up your oil reservoir once a season or something crazy like that.

I use 1/2-3/4 of a tank every ride. My 18 and my turbo seem to use the same amount.
Thanks, some real world data rather than someone just bashing when a question is asked. That is not a terrible amount of oil used as they are not a huge tank. If this makes the motors last an extra 1000 miles over the competition it is worth it.

I have 2 2018 850s that barley use any oil. Last Saturday rode some of the best snow yet, pinned all day in the deep. Rode 45 miles and used a 1/4 tank of oil.

I wish mine was that way sort of. Easy ride of 40 miles and 1/4 tank with 11 miles per gallon. Hard ride in powder 8-9 gallons of gas and min. of a 1/2 tank used and maybe 8 mile per gallon. I would rather use more oil if it keeps it running. No excessive smoke. Peter

Dittos, about the same here

Sad to report more oil didn't stop my 19 engine from blowing on Thursday:confused:. 3 hour tow to the trail out. Under warranty though.:) . 4505 mountain miles. Peter

You sure its under warranty? I thought there was a 4000 mile stipulation. Nothing real sad about 4505 miles on a 2 stroke. I just talked a buddy out of a 14 poo with 2600 miles that looked really clean. Told him he would be in line for a motor.

It is time not miles for warranty.

Buddy of mine that rides doo tells me he spends more on oil than on fuel?? Can it be true?
Do the math, it's not that difficult. Then you won't have to ask.

Assume the following:
$51.60/gallon for oil (Amazon price)
32:1 effective mix ratio

Anything over $1.61/gallon means you're spending more on fuel (1 gallon oil @ $51.60 = 32 gallons fuel @ $1.61)

I call BS on your "buddy"

Regardless of how much we burn, at least we don't smoke like the Polaris sleds. All my Poo buds leave a nasty yellow streak on the snow when they get on it. One of them told me that it just pisses him off that my Doo doesn't smoke, lol.

My 850t 2020.5 uses lots of oil always 1/2 tank of oil and with the yellow panels getting sick of detailing the exhaust side panel every trip....every time the flipper is squeezed there is black streak in the snow.....

FWIW my 850turbo consumes wayy more oil than my 2017 850 NA. 3/4 a tank per day trip it seems like.

Been out with t3 174t with other new 21 turbo sleds and crazy the fuel and oil difference between sleds.. always black streaks in the snow with them..

The factory turbos are burning a ridiculous amount of oil. I hope that we can complain enough that they will turn it down. It is seriously around a 15:1 ratio or worse. If I fill my sled and my 4 gallon tunnel caddy, I will run out of oil before I run out of gas at the end of the day. It is excessive and a waste. Everyone's black stained panels and the oil stained exhaust streaks in the snow are proof. Turn the oil down for us Skidoo!!!!
