OFFICAL 2017 Polaris Reveal, Photos and Specs

Thanks for the info. OP!

The 174" option is cool but not unexpected as D.D. mentioned.

The rest is rather "ho hum".............

I realy get a kit out of everyone that doesn't think quick drive is better for performance. I think Polaris should make a heavier track it will be same performance.

I have had them all. The cmx drive did have better performance. You come ride my 155 3 inch and then ride my wife's 163 2.6 and you tell me. If I blindfolded you, you would pick mine. My clutched 12 also beat the 13 demo. Blindfolded again and you would pick the 12. Like I said, it is cheaper for Polaris to build and they get more out of you because you are told they are automatically better. The cmx was better.

Finally got to check out the website and I'm not impressed. I don't think the line up is as good as '16. They are offering nothing that makes me want to snow check. Oh well, this past winter sucked and I swore to myself I wouldn't snow check a new sled anyway so now seeing the '17 line up it makes it way easier for me to not spend any money.

I figured it would be a quiet year for polaris on here. But I was hoping in the press release it would mention a few more of the changes that were actually made. did the A arms change? Did they do any updates to the motor like they seem to do every year? new, tighter tolerances on pistons or rings? TPS settings changed?

17s have some improved electrical connections and a different map. Otherwise I don't think anything has changed.

Dissapointing... Was really hoping for a 144x2.6 SKS or RMK 800- identical but with a shorter tunnel and track AND under 400lbs dry. NOT a beefed up trail sled with a long track :face-icon-small-fro

Disappointed for different reasons but I'm still gonna upgrade to one. I was hoping for gripper skis, adjustable stance and some different track choices like a 1.6 or .1.75" option. The lefthand switch gear is nice touch for those of us that do have to trail ride or ride at night.

The only question now is whether to snow check or not...

Glad I did not stay up for this reveal. Lol. Polaris, you screwed the pooch not offering a 146ish axys for the midwest guys.

The Switchback Assault is a complete let down. Was really hoping that Polaris would come out with something to compete with the Freeride but it's just a trail sled with a 2" track. Looks like it might be time to switch brands :(

Well if your not riding trails and are in deep snow why would you not get the SKS then. I know a lot of guys ride off trail with us who have the Switchback assault prorides and they are very capable sleds off trail with a 2". They wheelie also so they may be better suited toward the crowd that always wants to wheelie. In the Axys chassis it is just that much better. Throw on a set of powder skis and good to go. A narrow front end would be nice but lets look at the target audience for one of these vs a SKS. There is always the aftermarket.

Maybe a bit overhyped of a release. Cool they added the 174 although it is a very limited market. Mostly BC folk will want one.

My 16 SKS looks pretty much unchanged this year which is fine it is an awesome sled. Can't wait to go ride it this weekend again.

How does it not compete? My 15 SBA is better off trail than my buddies 146 free ride, takes bigger hits and the front end doesn't bend.

A 600 Assault! Very cool!
But I was expecting the new 800 improvements to find their way into the 600..

So is there more power? The release is claiming a 10% better power to weight and the weight hasn't changed so is there 10% more power from 16 to 17? Or is that just more old news from 2016?

I don't see anything in there that makes me want to upgrade my '16. Same crappy shock packages, no tether, same engine, suspension and one new track that almost nobody will buy.

I am in the camp that doesn't see anything worthwhile other than some BNG....

I'm glad to see the SBA got in to the new chassis and has the new motor. The running boards look great and I like the seat, though the RMK seat would save a bunch of weight I'm guessing. I wonder why they changed the bars on the switchback assault? I like the pro tapers I have on my 15, and the left hand controls? Gross. At least the hand and thumb warmers are separated. The new rear suspension looks pretty hefty, I bet it can take a beating, probably save some weight there by removing some of the wheels.

-I bet this sled could get real low in weight for the crossover line - change the can (save 20 lbs), remove wheels (another 5 lbs maybe?), All foam under hood (couple pounds?).
-Narrow the front end to 39" and you save another few pounds (2 lbs maybe?)
-If the seat can be switched over to the RMK seat then I bet that'll save 5-10 lbs (say 7 for average).

456-20-7-5-2-1= ~423 lbs relatively easy and cheaply. For a crossover sled, thats wild if we can get it there. Even in stock form, the new SBA is going to be a killer sled for us flatland guys. Too bad it starts at 14599 CAD :(

Seeing as how this is a BNG year, I wonder what they have up their sleeve for 2018.

Why the Switchback assault so heavy ,,,,10 lbs more than the switchback 137 pro-s

Because the Switchback Assault has a full tunnel, longer 144 track and skid and longer running boards. 10 lbs difference seems pretty minor for all that.

The freeride 137 is a just a trail sled too, even has R-motion doesn't it? If you want to compete with the 146/154 Freeride go with the RMK Assault, not the Switchback Assault. The Switchback Assault competes with the Renegade Backcountry X, not the Freeride.

This surprised me the most. I can't believe there was not a 144/146 SKS or RMK 800 144 as the Switchback Assault get a bit too much trail for some of us.

I guarantee you that if they got rid of the SBA and replaced it with the SKS in a 144/146 length, it would be the exact same sled as the new SBA.

Not many cheers to poo here for 17. Don't think I've seen one poster saying they are going to upgrade their 16 to a 17.

If poo builds a lot of RMKs and stuffs them into their dealers, which I bet they will, there's going to be some smoking deals on 17 RMK's come January of 2017.

Doo's 850 will have some peeps wait until it hits the snow next year, especially if there are some great spring ride reports out there on the new chassis. This will only increase the rebates and availability of RMKs early next year.

Doesn't matter what yamacat does, it's not really relevant unless you're riding one now. No one is switching to cat, even if they come out with a new chassis, they can only try to hold on to current M owners. We all know you never buy a first year cat.

X2!!!! WTF!!

Don't want the chain case and wanting to try the new 2.6 track but really like the LE colors.......

I think You can build it.
The site is tricky but keep playing with it.
Although the site is down this morning:face-icon-small-dis
