OFFICAL 2017 Polaris Reveal, Photos and Specs

Serious question here. I dont see any difference in my 163 to my 155 on the trail. You think a 144 is going to really fulfill your needs over a 155?

I dont want a 144 for its ability to handle the trail but rather for the fun factor off trail, and yes there would definitely be a very noticeable difference off trail going from a 155 to a 144.

I really wish that Polaris could get their website/servers figured out. Every year this happens after reveal, so it shouldn't be a surprise.

I was able to get in last night and do some configuring, now all I get is the "final" config sled and ability to select accessories. I can't configure sled like I could last night.

I think it's funny how so many people were expecting BIG changes for 2017. The big addition is the 174". I mean really 1 year after a release of a new chassis did you guys really think there would be major changes? Come on! I think their snow check options are bad a$$ too as far as 0% for 60 months. I was just telling my dealer they should do that to entice more people instead of having to pay it off in a year. BNG is exactly what I expected. I'll be keeping my 16' for the next couple years and I love it!

I figured it would be a quiet year for polaris on here. But I was hoping in the press release it would mention a few more of the changes that were actually made. did the A arms change? Did they do any updates to the motor like they seem to do every year? new, tighter tolerances on pistons or rings? TPS settings changed?

Yea.... The big release was last year... This is following suit on the history of sleds... not much changes after the first year.

I hear there are some changes to the A-arms... but not enough to warrant a new part number.

As for the pistons... I'm not aware that there were issues with the AXYS 800HO motors... If there were... I can guarantee that this very forum would be loaded with complaints....especially with the decent snow year a lot of areas are having... I've heard of some with 3000 + miles already on an untouched motor. I didn't hear of many people with 800 CFi motor issues even before the AXYS in 2014/15.

The TPS calibration setting from the factory... Yes... an issue... Something that Polaris is very aware of and I'm sure will be addressed in 2017.

I do - especially with a 1.75" or 2" track option and taller gears! Too me that would be the perfect 50/50 crossover. I loved the narrow front end and gripper ski's on my 11 SBA. It was very capable and more fun off trail compared to my 2012 SBA with the wide front end and pro steer skis.
I am also very impressed with my 155 SKS - the shock package is great and front cooler flat out works - just wish it didn't have E start.. I would just like more top end and less track for the 50% trail riding portion with less sacrifice on those powder days:eyebrows:

Ah. Yah i suppose there is. My 163 is very boring at home haha.

does the assault have a bulkhead cooler?
in the literature Christopher posted, it says it does, but I cannot find anything on the website
please clarify. thanks

also, can the assault shocks be shortened or made to work with a narrow front end? 37"

Some of the other big downfalls IMO of the SBA are the deep tunnel, wide running boards, wide footwells/overstructure, wider belly pan, and different seat and tank. I am fully with you though- as I've mentioned in numberous places. There is a need for 144/146x2.6 RMK/SKS that is identical to the 155 versions only shorter. Belt drive AND front cooler please :face-icon-small-coo

As said I think they really missed the mark by doing a 174 and not a purpose built mountain 144. There is a big market for the 140 something mountain sled in AK, the midwest, the east, europe, and even in the west. There will be a few flatlanders who buy 174s just to have the biggest sled and the remaining few will likely be sold to those who ride BC (which is a mostly dominated by doo anyway).

LOL, the "downfalls" you describe is the same reason why they sell so many of them. Because all of those things make it a killer 50/50 sled. The narrow raised AXYS sled sucks on the trails as it's supper tippy and unstable (which makes sense as it's not designed as a trail sled). I would bet that most SBA owners will put far more time on trail then off trail with it.

They needed an RMK 174 AND 146 in the lineup to complete it. We got one, just not the other. Maybe that is what they are saving to have something new in 2018.

They need both versions as the switchback assault is one of the most popular sled in Polaris lineup with the "trail" front end. The new SBA is going to be a nice upgrade from the pro-ride version. But they missed the mark on not having a 144 SKS.

I think this is pretty spot on! There seems to be a lot of anger that a 146" version isn't available but if you look at the overall Polaris line up they are pretty heavily committed to the 144" track length.

I am a straight up flatland powder guy who has to ride a lot of trail based on where I live so the new Axys SBA is the perfect upgrade to my Pro Ride SBA. However I have been hoping to see an adjustable front end and better track options since I bought that 14 SBA... The Cobra is great but there are times I could use more lug but 2.0 is a little too much and is too soft for our trails most of the time.

I hope the fact that Polaris' website is down is an indication they screwed up on pricing and are lowering them. Holy cow, they just keep going up and up. I thought last year was a big jump, but this year seems even bigger. A person can get a Doo 165" X with a 3" track and electric start with a three year warranty for quite a bit less. Love my AXYS, but I don't get the huge increase. Guess we'll see what sales numbers come out of this. I can see why new folks aren't joining the sport, way to expensive to jump in.

I just built a 174" LE and it was almost $18,000 CAN unreal.

someone has been drinking skidoo's kool-aid

??? My post wasn't about jones'in for some new yellow g-string wondersled.

There are going to be some great deals on dealer stock Pro RMKs in Jan 2017.

They ain't getting cheaper, and guys that don't want to look like another Burandt wannabe, and know they are never going to ride like Flicker, are going to get alotta sled for fewer shekels.

Should have specified- for mountain specific riding. But yes you are correct they built that sled well for its intended purpose... But its not what I'm after. I was just describing what I want in a 144/146 mountain package. I really hope they dont give us 144 800 RMK in 2018 and copy the design of the 2017 144 600 RMK... Which is essentially a cheapened up 144 SBA with a narrower stance.

Long time lurker but joined hoping Polaris is reading this thread...

You dropped the ball!!! I'm a Yooper, 1/3rd of my time is spent trail burning with friends and 2/3rds of the time is spent riding everything that isn't groomed.

I read 100s of posts wanting a 144/146 SKS to compete with the 146 Freeride... I woulda bought one too... I've got 3 Poo's in my trailer and wanted to make it 4 so I could get my 13 year old on a real sled.

Put out, make this product, and take my $$$!
